Aromas that were popping into my head were dried herbs and cloves followed by a strong healthy whack of good fruit - promising. Tannins were fully intergrated and dissolved and subsequently the palate was very smooth.
Colour - getting towards brick red, no purple hues.
Long finish and initially the fruit was completely outplaying any oak - thinking awesome value.
About 1/4 of the way through (45 minutes), some oak reared its ugly head, briefly subsided but from then on the fruit was comparatively less noticeable and i down graded my experience from extremely pleasant to very nice.
Decided to decant *Shrugs - maybe this will help?* --> no it didnt. Oak became overpowering and distasteful.
I assume this means that the wine probably wont last much longer....
I'd be interested in anyone elses recent impressions....
