Obviously Brisbane doesn't merit a look at the Spanish wines. I am not really miffed as they are coming north fo the sparkling red tasting in June :D . Anyone else interested in going?

Hi All,

I've lurked here for quite some time, and really appreciate the wealth (and breadth!) of the postings. On the 'divine tastings' front, I've decided to go to the 'red fizz' session in Sydney. I'm hoping to get to look at a wide variety of wines of this style. At present, the Rockford's Black Shiraz is my 'benchmark' - but I'm hoping to find something of quality I can afford to quaff more often <g> Any suggestions?

cheers,
dave

Hi Michael,

I'm looking to attend, always a sucker for a sparkling red - perhaps see you there.

Cheers, Mark

Hi Dave

Around the $30 mark try St Hallet 'The Black' (94 disgorge), or the Yalumba D Black (mainly the 99 around now, but the 98 was delicious). For a little less $20ish you can still have the ever reliable Seppelts Original. As a quaffer the Seaview is not bad for around $10, but I avoid the Andrew Garrett.

Go the maroon bubbles!
