Is this a fair enough summary for 2002 vintage in SA.

Cabernet from hot regions barossa, McLaren and Clare are high quality.
Shiraz is good.

Cabrenet from Coonawarra - choose very carefully.
Shiraz is good.

Frederik, you might find some people are reluctant to summarise a vintage so briefly, but if youneed to, your summary isnt bad.

There should be heaps of info on the net, but in a nutshell, 2002 was one of the coolest summers South Australia has ever seen. Wines showed great colour and good ripeness. Cabernet from the warmer climates benefited, and was way more varietal than usual. Some shiraz from the warmer areas could be sensational.

There is a group (a minority I tihnk) who dont like the style coming out of 02 from the warm areas, and personally, I've tried a few surprisingly average wines.

You are correct with Coonawarra, the cool season did that region no favours at all, choose carefully from there.

02 was also a classic riesling vintage for Clare, some wonderful wines with high natural acid many makeers are hopeful these will age gracefully for a long, long time.

Hope this is helpful,,
