TN: Myattsfield Viognier 2024

Post by Waiters Friend »

G’day

There’s not very many straight Viogniers produced in W.A., and Myattsfield has made one intermittently. This is the latest vintage.

Medium yellow and bright in the glass. A fragrant nose, with fresh apricots, white flowers, pears and white peach. The palate is soft, with low acid, a slight glycerol texture (not oily, however, which some Viogniers can show), and a touch of almond on the back palate. Medium finish in a refreshing and aromatic style.

Probably a ‘drink young’ wine, and most enjoyed in the first couple of years from vintage. It’s possible the crew at Myattsfield will pull out a museum release at some point and prove me wrong.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
