TN:Jean-Clause Boisset ‘Les Ursulines’ Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023

Post by Waiters Friend »

G’day

This is a lower-priced Bourgogne Blanc, possibly given away by the word ‘chardonnay’ on the label, and the screw cap. The back label is in English also and this may indicate it was bottled for the overseas market.

Quite pale colour. Tropical and stone fruits on the nose, with pineapple, light peach, kiwi fruit, and a modest amount of savoury oak and vanilla.

The palate reflects the nose, with the fruits and savouriness equally to the fore. Acid is moderate, and the finish is medium only, and slightly astringent.

Definitely not an Australian chardonnay, and it is interesting to try something out of the norm, but for the money I think I can do better in Australia.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
