TN: Frankland Estate ‘Olmo’s Reward’ 2009 Cabernet blend

Post by Waiters Friend »

G’day

This wine is an unusual blend (for W.A.) consisting of Cabernet Franc (7%), Merlot (13%), Malbec (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%). More like a Right-Bank Bordeaux perhaps.

Ruby with faint tawny tinges. The nose has violets, graphite, tomato leaf, blackberry, raspberry and a touch of leather and raisin. There’s tangy red berries and stewed plums on the palate, which has juicy acid, and fine fully integrated tannins. Medium bodied and medium to long finish.

Not surprisingly, given its age, unlikely to improve, but won’t fall over any time soon.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
