G'day
This wine is showing a pale golden colour and is quite bright in the glass. The nose is delicate, with red apple, honeysuckle, a touch of kero, wet stones, and very light peach. The palate is semi-sweet, and surprisingly fresh for its age. There's a little apricot alongside the apple and peach, and the acid is refreshing rather than tart or sharp. There's more honeyed intensity of flavour towards the fairly long finish. The purity of the fruit is excellent.
I don't have enough experience with aged Kabinett wines as the 8.5% alcohol, the sweetness and the delicacy of the wine somewhat masks the age and development. I'll try another bottle in a couple of years. It's under screwcap, by the way, which bodes well for its future.
Cheers
Allan
