Ian Bell used to work at Moss Wood, and more than a decade ago, there were wines made under the Moss Wood Glenmore moniker. It's also likely that some of the grapes for Moss Wood's Amy came (or still come) from the Glenmore vineyard. Ian is the owner/winemaker at Glenmore and the current vintage of the "non-Moss Wood" Glenmore is 2012.
Not decanted (I usually decant, but was not home at the time) and straight out of the bottle the fruit was climbing out of the glass. Lots of blackcurrant, some red fruits as well, and a touch of eucalypt. There's also some dark chocolate and tobacco, but the fruit is still the dominant factor.
It slides gracefully across the palate, and is well supported by slightly grippy and well integrated tannins, and good but unobtrusive acid. Full bodied, and with considerable palate weight, this wine finishes very long.
One of the best Cabernets I have tried this year.
Cheers
Allan

Re: TN: Glenmore Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Several months later, I have opened another bottle. This was decanted 4 hours before service.
Expressive nose, with menthol / eucalypt, blackcurrant, cocoa powder, and hints of tobacco and leather. Lots happening here. The palate is velvety, with more chocolate, dark and red fruits, and well supported by acid and fully integrated tannins. Full, rich and mouthfilling, and excellent length.
Excellent wine, and probably at its peak. Will go another 5 years easily, however.
Cheers

Interesting Allan. I see that they have moved onto the 2013 vintage now. Glad to see that there are still people out there letting their wines age a bit before release.
Webpage also mentions a 2003 PinPin. Have you tried it ?

Last time I looked at the website, there was an Isabella. I don't know anything about the Pin Pin but would be keen to hear from anyone that has.mychurch wrote:Interesting Allan. I've still got some 2005 of this - excellent wine, but I need to drink my last couple of bottles soon.
