TN: Cape Grace Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Post by Waiters Friend »

From a smaller Margaret River producer, whose wines I have been buying from time to time for about 15 years. Consistently good Cabernet and Chardonnay. Also, my youngest daughter is Grace, which prompted the initial cellar door visit sometimes in the 2000s.

Crimson in colour. Typical Cabernet blackcurrant and cassis, augmented by eucalypt and mocha. Some coffee grounds as well with a touch of olive. The palate is silky, with tannins, alcohol and acid all in supporting roles to the fruit, which, although developed, still slides easily over the tongue. The wine is medium to full bodied, but this is offset by the gentleness of the wine. It finishes long but with subtlety (and I am possibly not describing this well).

Delicious, but not in a powerful style. Probably at its peak, but will hold for a couple of years. Certainly not aggressive, and the years in bottle have served it well.

Cheers
Allan

Sounds wonderful Allan, I like the idea of a cabernet nearing medium-bodied.
