TN: Redbank Sally's Paddock 2012

Post by Rory »

I believe 2012 was generally an elegant vintage across SA and Vic, and this wine shows it.
Considering its blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Franc and Merlot it is not a big wine, but elegant and feminine it is.
Reminds me of the '99, but I'm not sure it has the structure to fill out much more from juvenile to fully mature. The tannins are there, chewy, but lacking perhaps an acid spine to think of longevity.

Actually, I may change my best before date.
three days later. from the fridge, the wine has developed some lovely rich characters that i believe will develop.
Lovely wine, looking forward to the 2015.

Redbank's Sally's Paddock is an excellent wine. I don't have any bottles in the cellar but I have had the opportunity to taste at cellar door and at a wine tasting. The agent/rep at the tasting gave me the heels of a bottle to take home and I got to taste it a few days later much to my delight.

When I was at Redbank's cellar door I bought a bottle of their 1998 'Hundred Tree Hill' Shiraz but have not yet opened the bottle. Nonetheless I really wish I had a bottle of the Sally's Paddock.
