2017 Tyrrell Reds

Post by Redwine&Rum »

Anybody here a fan of Tyrrell and tasted their 2017 reds or followed the 2017 hunter vintage? All reports are that 2017 was a sensational year. Looking at getting a few for the cellar. Any info you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

I think Tyrrell's is commencing shipping of wines today.

From the writers Mike Bennie has declared 2017 (and 2018) reds on par with 2014...so a big call there, will be interesting to see if there is a consensus from some of the other industry heads.

2017 Tyrrell's vintage report: https://www.tyrrells.com.au/whats-on/blog/

Based on Bruce's vintage report, it seems like a good vintage, but would appear to not be at 2014 level: "I think we will all remember this Vintage for the joy of picking clean fruit, and no mud. At the end of the day we have some very good wine in the cellar".

Certainly feeling some hype, heading up there later this month to check it out personally, will post my impressions. If the whites are anything to go by, the reds should be excellent. I hear 18 may be even better.

Hard to go wrong with any of the single vineyard wines (Mothers, Old Hut, Stevens, NVC), Vat 8 or Vat 9.

I'd be expecting some critics reviews in a week or two.
