Adelaide BYO?

Post by JamieBahrain »

How's the BYO scene in ADL these days? I'm coming down to see the rampaging Dogs and have a lot of mature wine that needs drinking.

Appreciate any suggestions. Formal and child friendly?

Try Chianti on Hutt St. Best restaurant in many years. Celebrated my 60th there recently. Italian food to die for, fantastic service, great stemware, BYO with $25 on corkage.

Thanks Chuck. I meant to mention I'm OK with BYO charge and $25 is reasonable in my view.

I have heard a few places are doing free/negotiable BYO again, although mainly on quiet weeknights like Tuesdays. Haven't tried them out yet, and not sure about the child-friendly bit either...

Bistro Dom
Electra House
Bartons (Caledonian Hotel), North Adelaide
Forget about goodness and mercy, they're gone.

.

Suggest calling and pre-arrange BYO. Bring the bottle in during the late afternoon when they are quiet and they can decant ready for dinner.

I have found many Adelaide restaurants, whilst not advertising BYO, will consider it when you explain the circumstances - special occasion/bottle etc. Suggest discreetly bringing it in between services and OK with corkage seems to work for me. $25 is not unreasonable and makes everyone happy.

Michel,
Showground Farmers Market is closed 3rd and 10th September due to the Show.
Other markets I like (in addition to the Central Markets):

Holland Street Market, off King William Road, south CBD, only Sundays, nice for brunch
Plant 4 Market, Bowden, near Entertainment Center, Wed 4-9pm, Fri from 5pm, Sat 9am-3pm, nice food, wine bar

Cheers,
Mario

Just had a brilliant meal at Chianti
Smart simple cooking with no attitude
Packed on a Monday night
Even glassware rocked
Purchased a very tidy 2013 Felsina chianti off the winelist
Thanks for the recommendation

With all due respect
Did Africola last night
We didn't get it
The dishes clashed
Sugar around eggplant
Vinegar pronounced beans
We ordered a few dishes & scuttled out of the noise
I wanted to love it...
Shrugs shoulders
