So what's your favorite type of wine?

Post by PortWineWorld »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the auswine forums and I just thought I'd get a feel for the community and dip my foot in the pool.
As you've probably guessed by the subject... I'm curious as to what types of wine you all prefer. Obviously my vote goes towards the Port's, Vintages in particular but I'd just like to know all of your opinions.
I've recently started up a website that I'm trying to get off the ground and im really just looking for ideas so any and all replies help greatly. :D

Thanks guys!
I've forgotten how many bottles of wine I've drank to this day... And at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

My favourite wine?

Any decent, good or fine wine with character, verve, elan or depth. After all, one needs wine for every occasion. As much as you like port surely you need something else with appetizers, fish or seafood, or any number of different foods and occasions.

To only drink wines from one country, or a couple of varieties, or only reds or whites, to miss out on experiencing the lovely diversity and variety of the wine world.

Mahmoud.

Barossa Shiraz, Coonawarra cab, Margaret River cab, Yarra Valley cab and Pinot, Mclarenvale Shiraz, Tassie Pinot, Otago Pinot, Martinborough pinot, Burgundy (won't name villages), Bordeaux cab blends, Champagne, Chardonnay from most of these regions. All of these are my favorite wine at one time or another. If pinned down, it might be my first nomination but really variety is what I want.

I pretty much like everything be it red or white except Moscato and some of the cheaper fizz. I often try a new Chardonnay or Cabernet and say that was the best I have ever had then next week I try a new Riesling or Shiraz and think that is the best wine I have had. I am currently loving white Burgundy and Chablis, its a continuous journey of discovery.

Interesting, I had a look on CT to see if my riesling obsession was as bad as I suspect. Results as follows:

Red Bordeaux Blend 23.8%
Riesling 22.5%
Shiraz 13.9%
Cabernet Sauvignon
Pinot Noir 5.1% Bottles
Cabernet-Shiraz Blend 5.1%

I really do need however a lot more Italian and Spanish wines. And a bit more out of the south of France.
