November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
I've only been to two offlines but have enjoyed them so much I thought I'd start the ball rolling on another one.
As a theme I'm thinking Cabernet : Coonawarra v Margaret River v Bordeaux
We should try for early November so we don't start running into the Xmas party crowds with bookings etc.
The last location at Roseville seemed pretty good but we can discuss other possibilities to share around the travelling.
Let me know if anyone is interested in this theme - tentatively for November 6.

Sounds good.
What about whites, same regions as well?

Sounds good CK, count me in.
We could always include a few Cabernets from elsewhere for the point of comparison?? I was thinking of the next theme, and Cabernet was high on my list too, happy days.
Happy with any kind of white subtheme (other than cats pee Sav Blanc), and certainly enjoy having a bunch of whites in the mix.
We can check if SPN would have us back, I enjoyed the relaxed nature of the venue.
Cheers

Yes please !
After much tasting, young, old, new world, old world, etc, I have sadly come to the conclusion that my wife doesn't like Cabernet..... unfortunately for her we own about 150 different bottles of the stuff ! Bring on the offlines

Any chance of doing it in the city?
Re: November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
Probably need to determine how many people this is for and start setting reserves..I think we're at 11 right now assuming mjs is not in yet.

I'd like to be a starter for this.
Re: November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
Without wanting to usurp the organisers, I'd like to suggest that the format we had last week could well become a 'static model' for future auswine offlines. Venue could obviously change (although I loved the rare convenience of the north shore location, as did a few others!), but essentially.....
8 per table, 2 tables max. Tables allocated in order of 'I'm in' posts, and move 'up' if people drop out. So limit numbers to 16?
Wines are on a per table basis, but restraint urged while pouring, which should allow a 1/2 size pour of most wines for the other table. Worked out well IMHO??
I suppose if interest goes well beyond 16, we could add extra tables and see how it pans out, but of course would depend on the venue. I'd suggest sticking with 16 for now, and seeing how it goes with dropouts etc.

I agree with Tigger. It was an excellent setup for a tasting.
I'd be happy for pizza but not sure we could find somewhere that would let us sit for essentially 4 hours and taste wines.
All details tentative at this stage:
Venue - Salt Pepper Nutmeg Roseville
Date - Friday November 6th
Numbers - 2 tables of 8 (limited to 16)
Format - Same as Hunter tasting
Theme - Cabernet (Worldwide from Cabernet regions). Whites up to the individual.
Current list order
1. Croquet King (Coonawarra - 1985 Wynns John Riddoch)
2. Dave Vino (Margaret River - 2001 Houghton Jack Mann Cabernet, Coonawarra -1992 Lindemans Pyrus (probably)).
3. TiggerK
4. DeeJay81
5. DeeJay81 (Lauren)

Re: November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
Think there is a chance I could make this (but leave early), put me down please!
Re: November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
Hi,
I haven't been to an offline before but would love to attend. Can I put myself down as a backup in case there are any dropouts?
Thanks
Andrew

For sure AndrewPC.
There are always drop outs as people's calendars fill up closer to the date.

Re: November Offline - Sydney - Cabernet
We currently have 20 on the list but a couple of them are very tentative at this stage.
I'll keep updating the post with the names in it and put the time that I've last updated it.
As soon as you have any idea about what wine you might bring let me know and I'll update it.
I've put my wine in already to start the ball rolling.
