Last minute help
Last minute help
Hi all. So I just offered to bring wine for my in laws dinner on Xmas day - only problem being that I have to delegate the buying to the mrs as I'll be at work tomorrow. I've got the rest of the wine list ready, but being I'm not a merlot drinker I was after a recommendation for something soft and fruity for people that don't drink a lot of wine.

Turkey Flat Rosé

Thanks Red, but probably after something a bit fuller bodied. There will be plenty of white for people that want something light and cold, I need something a bit fuller bodied than a rose.

Re: Last minute help
Turkey Flat Grenache will probably suit. Drinks well young and isn't too hard to find. Should be less than $25 as well. Or the Torbreck Juveniles. It's unoaked and extremely easy to drink, also less than $25.

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?
Re: Last minute help
Almost anything McLaren Vale...A lot of stuff from Barossa...Probably a very mid level wine which will be good to drink now. But I'm not sure what that has to do with Merlot..
Re: Last minute help
Agree with Ian. A lighter style GSM would suit. Teusner Joshua for example.
Bartenders are supposed to have people skills. Or was it people are supposed to have bartending skills?

2012 is supposed to be a ripper.

It would have to be better than the 2011. I thought it to be quite ordinary, while in most other vintages it offers exceptional VFM.

Re: Last minute help
2011 was a dud vintage in most of SA, hope you managed to get some Joshua 2012, wouldn't be the first time the label has impressed others
Re: Last minute help
Got married in 2011 so of course it had to be a shocker of a vintage here and elsewhere Promising noises on it being a declared Port vintage however
