November Purchases 2012

3x 2010 Rockford Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon
3x 2010 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz

Yay! Got some retail. Missed our last year. It doesn't hang about for very long. Hope the 2010 shiraz is good, haven't seen any reviews of it yet.

Woods Crampton Mataro Rose - Is it Rose, is it red wine, well, its an animal all of its own, superb!

2012 Rieslings , yum ... Wilsons Polish Hill, Tim Adams, Bay of Fires, KT Wines ... that's so far, more will undoubtedly follow!

Torzi Matthews Frost Dodger Shiraz 2010 ... wow.

Thats it (well, so far!)

12 x Salitage 2007 Pinot Noir
12 x Salitage 2007 Pemberton
12 x Rockford Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
3 old Yalumba Racehorse series fortifieds
4 X Rockford Cabernets (2x2002, 2x2005)
4xWild Duck Ck Bridies Row set
1x Two Hands Bellas Gardern 2008

Salitage seems to be divesting themselves of much of their recent stock at a fraction of the price. I have enjoyed both the Pemberton and Pinot from 2007 - lovely wines. The Pemberton is a mix of Bordeaux varieties and is elegant and made for the long haul. The pinot is in its drinking window and will probably not improve - like licking the forest floor - great mushroomy, trufflely, sous bois (is that how you spell it?) flavours.
If you can remember what a wine is like the next day you didn't drink enough of it

12 2010 Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet.
Yes the trophy hunter in me stirred, multiple award winner at last months Limestone Coast show with best wine of show and 3 other gongs...went on to the website and it was at a ridiculously cheap price (unusual for TWE)..low and behold must have been a run, cause 3 hours later the discounted price stopped and it went up $10pb he he :D :D

Has anyone tried it...looking for some cheaper Coonawarras..me thinks a few are trying to make hay while the sun shines before the disastrous 2011 releases, thats if any are made.

Cheers Craig

Picked up some 2010 mixed burgundies from Ross Duke, mainly Fourriers. Won't see the light of day for a few years.

You two were quick! Mailer only came yesterday.

I am going for 6 of the Simpatico and 6 of the Symphony. When a new wine budget is handed down in Jan I will go back for more including the others if they are still available.

I stopped buying wine a couple of months ago due to the cellar threatening to burst its seams. However, a couple of staples came along, and a couple of other opportunities......

12 x Pewsey Vale 2012
12 x Hoddles Creek Chardonnay 2011
6 x Plantagenet Riesling 2012
6 x Gilberts Riesling 2012
6 x Whicher Ridge Riesling 2011
4 x Whicher Ridge Shiraz 2010

Maybe it's time to stop buying again....... and definitely Riesling weather.

Cheers

Bloody nice selection there Allan,

I see your fan of Whicher Ridge, Have you tried the Viognier they do?, it's a damn fine drop and well worth searching out.

Yep, mixed box of Marius for me too. The question really is: should I have got more than one case?

Also 6 Leo Buring Clare Riesling 2012 at a very tasty price. The first of what I suspect will be a flood of 2012 Rieslings...

Another case of 2002 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne. Any champagne lover should get their hands on some - it is absolutely superb now, and will be out of this world down the track (say 2030).

Thanks, Stavros

I've tried Whicher Ridge at a few WIne Industry of WA tastings, and been mostly enthusiastic about their riesling and the shiraz (and I am trying to build up a collection of vintages - only two of each so far). The viognier, while a good example of the variety, doesn't fire me as much - only because I have gone off viognier. Even the occasional Condrieu isn't doing it for me any more, whereas it did 10 years ago.

Cheers

24 x 2010 Teusner Riebke Shiraz (375ml) - being cleared at less than half the full bottle price - the great 2010 vintage - and perfect for when a whole bottle is too much!
12 x various Noon (went for 6 x "12 Bells" and 6 x "Eclipse" but only three "Eclipse" per customer meant I got some rose and an "M2M" instead - actually Drew was very apologetic and did not assume that I would get other wines to round out the dozen)
6 x 2010 Marius Simpatico and 6 x 2010 Marius Symphony
6 x 2008 Peter Lehman "Light Pass" Shiraz

A touch over budget....

Cheers

Some easy stuff to please the Xmas masses

2 x Grant Burge Moscato so the pregnant wife can indulge in a glass on Xmas day
6 x Grant Burge Dolcetto Syrah which is surprisingly good. The Shiraz gives a greater depth to the taste and a very moreish nose. A bit of Frizzante and served chilled is a good drop for a hot day
6 x Pewsey Vale 2012 Riesling
6 x Jim Barry 2012 Watervale Riesling

Couldn't help myself on the riesling - just not sure which will be the better longer term proposition.
