Took the day off today to recover after last night's match, & went to Stonyridge for lunch.
2010 Larose was very impressive -- concentrated fruit, fine tannins, good length & acid balance.
Cheers
Peter

Craig et al,
I recently stubmled across some 2008 Stonyridge Larose for $100 at my local here in Adelaide. Is it worth the coin and how does it stack up other vintages?
Cheers,
Tony

Yes 2008 is a top vintage, one of the very best. One for the cellar for at least 12-15 years before drinking. $100 is 'cheap' - it is $85 en prem here and most places over $200 in retail
In my opinion best modern vintages are 94,96,99,00,04,05,08,09 and no doubt 10
04,05,08,09 still need substantial time in the cellar

Thanks Craig. I'll have to snap them up then!
I'll also have to have a look out for the 09

Latest auction catalogues show Stonyridge is expected to go for about $60 a bottle. Not much ROI for the people selling them.

Not that I am a believer in wine being an "investment" but in this case i am a believer that most NZ wine auction estimates are a load of rubbish. Has been that way for years. $60 I feel is very very unlikely to be anywhere near a hammer price for a SRL

I'd agree with those vintages as being top ones, but would add that 06 and 07 are very tidy too.
(My 2010 arrived on time)
(BTW: slowly getting a bit better following stroke... still not drinking yet, as I'm on warfarin; will post more as months progress hopefully)

I was over in Waiheke a couple weekends ago with the family and visited Stonyridge for lunch. I had a glass of the 2010 vintage. Superb wine. Oodles of depth and class; very velvety tannic structure.
Cheers,

Thanks guys.
I'm not imbibing much yet - just the odd glass. But I view it as essential physiotherapy to push my limits in this regard
