A midweek Voyager

Post by Bick »

Couldn't see a midweek wine thread to stick this in, perhaps just going blind, or having a senior moment. Any road, I cracked open a 2003 Voyager Cab/Merlot - what a beauty. This is super stuff, one of the finest wines I've had in the last couple months - nice brooding depth to it kept fresh by perfect ripeness. It seems WA did better in 03 than SA. Anyone else had this lately and can compare to other recent vintages? I'll give it a :D on the BES (bick emoticon scale).
Cheers,
Mike

I'm taking one along to a tasting I'm holding in Bdx next month to show evolution under s/c (after a dozen 01 cabs cc v cork - the main theme)- glad its looking good.

Agreed, Voyager, Pierro and a couple of other producers actualy did OK out of what for most of Australia was a vintage to forget. Stick to reds, however,
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I have a couple of 02s left- never got the 03. For what is apparently an inferior wine to the 03, it's a cracker- so I can only assume that this is excellent (along with your appraisal of course!)

I'll be interested to hear how it is doing under SC, Gary - mine was under cork. Its mellowed off a bit, but still drinking reasonably young.
Cheers,
Mike
