Tie the Knot?

Post by underwraps50 »

Uncle Dan has Shingleback's '08 Red Knot Shiraz on special again for $9.40(in any 6). They rate it a 94. The BRW Book rates it an 88 but does say "Forget the score - its good value & good drinking". I tasted it a month or two ago when they previously had it on special and thought it was OK but didn't excite me. I never place too much reliance on these quick Saturday morning tastings however and also the wine has sometimes been open for quite a while. Anyone have any thoughts on this wine?

I was a bit the same, sound enough, but nothing exciting. Have 2 bottles remaining, my wife thought it was pretty good. I think JH was at 90 pts.

Not sure what vintage I tried last year. It was ok but preferred Penny's Hill Red Dot 08.

Actually now that you say it, I remember trying a Pennys Hill Red Dot last year or earlier this year and being pleasantly surprised. May have to revisit.

Just tried it (freshly opened bottle) and I'd agree with the BRW score. I didn't end up buying any.

Yeah, me too. I tasted it again at Uncle Dan's this arvo and still feel the same way about it. Gave it a miss.
