Ric (Torbwine)
Hi Guys,
Does anybody know how Ric is doing? His web site has not been updated for a long time. I emailed him but got no reply.
He did reported some health issues on his web site. I am just wondering how he is keeping. Sure do miss his tour diaries and reviews.

Re: Ric (Torbwine)
Brian will be able to answer this but he was in fine form when he visited our winery a couple of weeks back....just taking a rest from the writing.
Re: Ric (Torbwine)
It wasnt his health that I was worried about on that morning - I have now given up drinking altogether!

Sounds like Ric is getting back to being his fiesty self. I emailed Brian several months ago - Ric was then not yet in the best of health but it was improving. Incidentally, I suggested to him some years ago that he gather all of the tour diaries under one link on the site. He obviously thought it a good idea.
Cheers

PS Ric, get well as best you are able.

(Not sure I like the new spaced-out forum format)
Sigh, I wish Ric would put an update up on his site or post an update here...
As Ric says, he's "probably about as good as he's going to get". He survived (and mostly enjoyed, just don't mention Langhorne Creek) a week of winery crawls and eating and drinking at night (better than Mandingo after one night of excess), but usually had a bit of a nap between tastings and dinner.
It's unlikely at this stage that he will return to writing, he did take some notes and was intending to write up some highlights of the trip, but I wouldn't bet on that actually happening.

Just send me all those single malts on the top shelf then, you know my address and I'll pay for postage.

Ditto - can we go back to how it was? You can't see many threads at a glance now.
As for TORB - I liked his Tour Diaries. With both him and Craig signing off on their websites, I'm going to be bereft of diversion at work from what were two great (free) sites...

Agree I don;t like the new layout as much.
And the site is now being reported as an Attack Site by Google and Firefox wants to block it based on reported trojan downloads over the past few days from this site.... What's going on there I wonder. Security check Gavin?? phpBB patches up to date etc??
Reported Attack Page!

Whilst we've hijacked the thread, The new layout is not to my liking either.
Oh and I hope Torb is feeling better...

Eeek. Don't like the sound of this web attack business - sounds like your site has been nobbled by gremlins Gavin. I'll not be back for while... don't want my pc attacked.
Cheers,
Mike

Hello Gavin
I logged on 5 minutes ago, and also got the Google security message. Your problem may not be as fixed as you thought
Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
Re: Ric (Torbwine)
All good now from here...
Funny, when it happened I stopped by the forum looking for a thread title talking about the site attack and couldn't see any, so I went away.... wasn't game enough to actually read threads in case the badware was inside the thread.... should have expected a hijack

Re: Ric (Torbwine)
The
New Look
was part of the attack.
Drat!!!!
Hate it, cost me money to get fixed, then you have to apply to Google to get the
attack site
stuff removed, and await their pleasure to do so.
While I understand the above, it doesn't help me, who did nothing but get attacked by some moron with too much knowledge, and too little brain!!
There, I sort of feel better now.
BTW
All malicious code has been removed and fixed, and stronger security put in place.
Hits the hip pocket, but must be done!!

Definitely have to agree. We all really appreciate the work (and dollars) you put into this site.

Re: Ric (Torbwine)
Likewise, Gavin, I appreciate your efforts, and will continue to post where appropriate - it's all good.
However, is Ric OK? Like many posters, I am a fan of his tour diaries, and would be horrified if things are not as they could or should be. Having had a recent medical scare (not life threatening as it turned out, but we thought it was), I appreciate the need to reprioritise.
Cheers

Re: Ric (Torbwine)
It is great to hear that Ric is keeping well. He has been one of the figures that really inspired me to collect, cellar, taste widely, and ultimately post about wine. I do really miss his opinions, especially regarding the c-through stuff...

Great news Brian - it's good to hear Ric's getting back to his boozy, grumpy self again!

Ian
Ps. It's also great to see Gavin's fixed up the problems caused by that #*@%ing hacker. The reported attack site messages had me worried for a while there.
Forget about goodness and mercy, they're gone.
