Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
G'day folks,
At the moment Penfolds and Vintec are running a promotion where if you buy 6 bottles of penfolds new release wines (2 of which must be BIN wines) and must come to atleast $120 then you can purchase a 30 bottle vintec fridge for $150 delivered. Wines have to be purchased at an INDEPENDENT winesstore (e.g not owned by woolies or coles....Dan Murph, BWS, first choice etc etc)
Now what I was wondering was if anyone had purchased an eligible amount of wines but was not interested in the vintec wine fridge....I am interested but at the moment the budget doesnt really stretch the extra $120+ for the wine.
If anyone has made a purchase which qualifies and would like to share the love please let me know.
Cheers, Pok

On this topic, Does anyone know of any stores in north west sydney that is participating in this? Anywhere around the macquarie/castle hill/hornsby/chatswood kind of region would be good. I have only been able to find a few stores online who are advertising it & they tend to be in the city or like places.

Yeah, what he said...
Purchases do need to be made through a participating store, who should be displaying promo material in store. If you're not sure, call me and my team at the funship and we'll happily fill you in on the details. Similarly if you have any other queries on the promo, call us. I'd hate any of you to get invalidated claims 'cause you got the wrong info somewhere along the line.
In case you missed that number, it's 1300 651 650

If you want to know what this means in code, I rang this number after having purchased the wine online from an online retailer who offered the deal to be told that I was not eligible because my receipt was not an original (it was an email receipt) and I should have known that it was an "in store promotion" only. I was supposed to infer this, apparently, from what, I'm not sure.
I pointed out that this was the original receipt, that there is no mention of this "in store' requirement on the brochure, and that the requirement for an original receipt was just a means of verification, which the email was capable of providing just as well as a docket.
They then said that if I obtained an "original invoice" from the retailer "of the same kind as I would have been given if I'd been in the store, they would honour it.
They also claimed that the online store "shouldn't have offered the service online", something which the online store told me had never been suggested to them.
Ironically, I'm inclined to say that Fosters couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, though they would have more chance of that than successfully promoting their wines and maintaining the prices and reputations of the premium brands they inherited (and are in the process of destroying).
BTW, has anyone actually received one of these fridges yet?
Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
Sorry to hear that orpheus
Bad experiences like that can really suck. But thanks for the advice. I will give them a call tomorrow.

If there is one universal truth, it is that when running a promotion on this scale, something will always not go according to plan, particularly if the format of the promotion has never been run before. There will ALWAYS be a number of Rumsfeld moments. Always.
What I can promise though, is that if you ring me or email, I will ensure your individual details and claim are followed through.
Ask for Moira. 1300 651 650.

For those who have participated, have you heard anything from the promoters? I sent my claim form in early March and haven't received any confirmation nor has my credit card been debited.

Nope. I sent mine in on 12 March via express post, with enclosed money order. I've rang the money order enquiry line a few times to see if the money order has been cashed yet - so far it hasn't. I've also called the Penfolds number a couple of times to see if they had received my claim, but haven't yet spoken to nor asked to speak to Moira.
The first person at Penfolds I spoke to, about 2 weeks after I sent the form in, said they had no record of receiving it, and suggested I check my tracking number with Australia Post. When I called back to say they should have received it 2 weeks before (15 March), I was told that the claim forms are processed by a third party (I assume that it's Handling Matters Pty. Ltd., the named biller on the claim form) and that they were still processing claim forms sent in during the first week of the promotion. I was told that the third party processes about 1,000 claims per day, and given the overwhelming response to the promotion, there was a massive backlog. And further, until the third party processes the claims, Penfolds has no way of confirming that the claim has been recieved.
Nevertheless, it's a good deal and the 90 day terms were made clear. But in this era of instant gratification, it would be nice to know whether the claim had been received. Perhaps Moira could give us an indication of when we'd be likely to hear from Penfolds or receive a letter.
I'm reminded of the Penfolds slogan "the rewards of patience".
Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
I'm relaxed. I sent my claim by registered mail (as suggested by them) so I can follow up if things should get ugly.
I think they were absolutely buried by claims. I check occasionally to see if my credit card has been debited, but otherwise I'm quite happy to give them at least a couple of months. This isn't as simple as processing a cashback check. I imagine just supplying the Vintecs will be a major logistical challenge.

Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
Yep, most of your assumptions there are correct and we are running a bit behind where we expected to be with the processing.
There are a lot of claim forms to process, including a fair bit of validation of credit cards, addresses, Bin wine purchases etc. To cope with the backlog, and get us up to the point where we should be the third party provider has put a couple more staff on to get on top of the processing, but this will take a few days to kick in.
I'm getting updated lists of where claims are at every couple of days, so you're welcome to check in with me to make sure we've got your name on a list somewhere.
I'd recommend giving it until early next week before doing that, and although it might be tempting, please don't contact the third party provider for an update. We want them focused on ripping open envelopes and getting the claims validated and processed. Give me a call instead - I love a chat!
I can also assure you that if there are any problems with your claim, such as forgetting to put your name on it , using an expired credit card or other oversights, I'll be in touch by phone to sort it out.
Hope that helps. Moira

Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
Thanks for the update, Moira.
I can imagine how laborious it would be to open envelopes, check the individual proofs of purchase for qualification, confirm addresses/claimants, etc, etc.

Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
Hi all,
I received my fridge on Saturday. The transport company and promotions company were great and I cannot fault them in any way. Now all I have to do is get my wife to agree to the fridge staying in the house rather than the garage. I bought the wine and sent through the receipt on the 1st March. Good luck to all.

Cheers Pat! Can I recommend filling the top shelf immediately with all her favourite tipples so she quickly appreciates the value of having the cabinet within easy reach?

Anyone else got theirs yet? Or heard about progress in their claim?

No, but as mentioned above, they're likely to be overwhelmed. Posting date only closed last week. I sent mine mid April, and wouldn't honestly expect to see the unit before the end of June.
Anyway, it's winter. Less of an issue at the moment...
cheers,
G

I'm still relaxed. My interest was piqued because one had been delivered. I was wondering how quickly they were proceeding. Also, does it just turn up at the door or do you get contacted first. I can certainly wait.

qwertt, If the suspense starts to get to you, I'm expecting to get the complete database of claims in the next few days. Call me if you want an update on where yours is at. We're proceeding, but we've still got cabinets on the water so there's probably a few weeks in it yet.
Yes, the Vintec delivery service will call you prior to delivery to confirm the details and to make sure you haven't got 5 flights of stairs or a rottweiler. Cheers, Moira
Re: Penfolds Bin Release Vintec deal....
Thanks for that Moira. You've answered my question so I'll leave you alone to deal with real problems. Cheers.

Hi. I received a charming letter saying my Vintec order was received and confirmed and that the fridge would be following in due course. I was wondering if we are any closer to getting these shipped out to people. Has anyone else received their fridge from this offer?

Letter received stating it's on its way. Felt like a melon querying a cost on my CC bill pertaining to the deal - it's been so long since everything was sent off that i forgot about it! The $ were debited on 28th May. Still no fridge. ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

Sorry..what? Did someone say something? Apologies all, I've been off the radar the last couple of days.
Been busy sorting through the many odds and ends like the cabinets arriving that people forgot to tell their relatives about (Surprise mum! A Vintec!!), the cheques that arrived in separate envelopes to the claim forms and my personal favourite, the one with the hardware shop receipt attached (I'll swap you a Vintec for a packet of screws and a hammer, thanks mate)
Anyway, I digress and yes, its's still taking a long time. We're got roughly 6-7000 cabinets on the go at the moment, which between payment processing and the logistics of arranging delivery does consume the day. If we could just leave them at the post office like a box of wine it would be a lot quicker, but I doubt the posties would thank us for that.
However, with access to the dispatch lists we do have a much better idea of when things are going to happen (like delivery), so I'll have a look at your individual claims when I'm back on deck on Monday and get in touch. PC79, you might want to send me a PM with a few more details.
Anyone who hasn't had ANY sort of letter at all by now should...um....panic. And then call me. 1300 651 650 if you haven't already got it.
