Had a good night. Met a couple of new faces, hopefully the lads enjoyed themselves and we see them at other events :-) Food was a bit meh, although service was friendly and approachable. I think the ingredients let them down, was about $80 a head with corkage.

All the wines were showing well and some interesting ones thrown in to complement the main theme. Thanks to all who were able to attend.

Thanks Dave for organising the event and to everyone for sharing some good wines. I had a great night, it was good to put some faces to names.

Yeah, it was a fun night, always nice meeting new forumites as well as catching up with familiar friends.

I wasn't in photo mode but this was (most) of the lineup... fill in and correct me if I'm wrong guys!

No notes, it was all about talking and enjoying the night. Probably could have talked more about the wines, but the banter was great. So just my impressions on the wines.. Sorry for the gaps and brief notes etc. Will step up more next time.

Grande Colline Vin de France Blanc 2009 (Marsanne) - spritzy, lively, slight lactic character, plenty of interest, a pretty cool way to start!
Chateau Rayas Fonsalette Blanc Reserve 2007 (Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Marsanne) - still young, rich and viscously textural with the beginnings of some complexity, really nice, keeps you coming back out of sheer fascination.
Belgravia Roussanne 2011 - Fresh and clean, slightly simple perhaps but oh so easy to enjoy this, very food friendly too.
M.Chapoutier Hermitage Chante-Allouette Blanc 2012 (Marsanne) - Biased as I bought it, but my WWOTN, nice balance, textural deftness, ripe nectarine & peach, needs time. (+ the next night - it's still drinking very nicely)
Saint Cosme Cote Rotie 2008 - Developing well, solid wine with a good future.
Rostaing Cote Rotie Cote Blonde 2006 - took a while to unfurl, but did so very nicely. Earthy and deep.
Rayas Chateau de Fonsalette Reserve 2003 - Loved it. Deft, light on it's feet, yet full of power and depth. WOTN for me, closely followed by..
Clos De Mont Olivet Cuvee Du Papet Chateauneuf Du Pape 2009 - Again, took a while to unfurl, but I became enamoured with this. Great structure.
M.Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac 2012 - Still so young, bit big to start. After some air, really came around and showed some class.
Pretty sure there was another decent Red here served with the Grant Burge... details guys??
Grant Burge Abednego 2009 - Aussie sweetness is apparent right away, but the ripeness seemed just right and I thought it was very enjoyable.
Unlabelled Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Sticky 2015 - my winemaker Bro-in-law gave me this to try, his experimental first dessert wine. Sweet, enough acid & really quite sunshiney! None of the complexity of the Iniskillin of course, but went very well with the Crepes Suzette.
Iniskillin Ice Wine Oak Aged Riesling 2002 - Lush and rich, burnt butter and toffee, oak is there, well balanced sweetness and acidity. Good way to finish.

Wasn't at all happy with most of the food myself, but they were trying hard, and it's always fun trying new places. Company was great though which easily made up for it!

Cheers
Tim

P.S Thanks Dave!! Awesome generosity and can never thank you enough for the lift home in the kickass Davemobile.

It was a great night, I cannot emphasise enough about Dave's generosity and hospitality, from bringing in extra bottles to keep the entire wine flight consummated (with whites, reds and stickies), to lending the extra wine glasses to fellow tasters, and to offered me a lift home.
It was my first offline tasting and it was an eye opener for me, I got to try some interesting wines which I have never come across with (Matt's unfiltered white comes to mind). I will definitely join the future offline tastings whenever I can. Thank you Dave.

Great notes Tim, agree on WOTN.
Threw in a 2011 Belgravia Roussanne (Orange region). It's a cheapie, but one of my favourite quaffers.
