Great piece of advice...
Slow month whilst waiting for the Marius email on Sept 1. Thought I might pick up some reference points.
1 x 2008 Marius End Play Field Blend
1 x 2006 Marius Simpatico Shiraz
1 x 2008 Marius Simpatico Shiraz
1 x 2010 Marius Symposium Shiraz Mourvèdre

Oh and when SWMBO pipes up, re lack of space, CC bills, cashola should be going on the house etc..
My reply is, 'think this bottle might be a good one...and if I was to share it, who is more important than you?'
Cheers

Off-site storage for me. What the SWMBO can't see, she can't complain about.

I'll second that! Trick is getting it to the off-site storage without being detected!

A cinch with Kennards. I get my wine delivered directly there. They hold it for me until I can drop by and put into my wine locker.

I've bought a bunch of swill but the highlight for August is 6x 2012 Vinteloper Odeon Pinots. It's a very special wine. I don't really understand how anything that looks so innocuous can be do delicious. It's probably one of the best Australian pinots I've ever had. Very, very good stuff.

You missed the price:
Bottle $95.00
3 pack $275.00
6 pack $525.00
Made by Ziggy Stardlust himself, apparently
OK, I'll get my coat

Yeah... it's $$$! Particularly from a relative newcomer. I'm generally not an Australian pinot fan but this really was exceptional. I baulk at spending that much on most wines, let alone a bloody Adelaide Hills pinot, but it's so good I couldn't stop myself. Now that I'm not in the wine business (if I ever really was) I don't find wines like this too often these days, so maybe I'm very easily impressed...!
The swill wasn't too bad. Nothing to write home about and nothing worth mentioning by name. We'll see what happens after next week's Mount Gambier and Coonawarra trip

Love Dave's Odeon Riesling as well!
His Adelo is a juicy fun everydayer (really interesting & different) and the touriga nacional is sensational!
I think i love the wines because they are a bit different and unlike anything i have tried previously (which doesnt mean much realistically)

Picked up some sensational wines this month.
Apart from the Wendouree's arriving, managed to grab a few 2005 Mouton Rothschild, some Bass Phillip Premiums and some 2012 Wynns John Riddoch.

Then thru comes a wine deal, Wynnsday, the Wendouree Mailer or whatever. I am acquiring more than I can drink. Storage locker overflowing. Wife starting to give me strange looks as boxes pile up.
Im unfortunately not on the wendouree mailer, my credit card is all the healthier for it.......... BUT agree 100% about buying wine being an addiction.
Every month I set myself a $500 total booze budget (so wine, spirits, beer ect), and every month without fail i blow it within the first couple of weeks JUST
on wine. My cellar is now full, wine fridge full and even the every day quaffer rack is full..... just so many bargains out there at the moment Its hard to resist!
I have 2 justifications.
1. The wine im buying wont go off (providing the storage is good)
2. My daughters birth year is 2012..... that keeps the wife happy-ish

well done!!!
Some gave the Mouton 05 rather mixed reviews, but have no fear, it is a cracking wine and in 20 years will be the best FG from that year.
I have noticed an Imperial of 05 Mouton up for auction at Langton's, drooling, but the reserve is insane.

Once one comes to terms with the addiction it's all good.

Different release, but same wine. Opened a bottle on Sunday and it definitely needs air. The first 2/3s was unenjoyable...

The release we had was a very smart wine. Do you think this release will get as good as that? If so wouldn't mind buying a few.
Did you happen to purchase them in OZ? If so would you mind PMing me details?

Mike,
I'm always in awe of your purchases and what you drink. No rough reds. Always great vino. What do you do for a living. Rob banks? Work for Macquarie Bank? I need a career change.
