I've got the LEAS '05 chardonnay somewhere in the cellar set aside for this. I will also bring the Sauternes which i left behind last time to get it out of the kitchen fridge. I know its not on theme but you have such a lovely menu lined up it seems a pity not to finish with something sweet.

Dave I have a 2010 Mayer if it helps with making decisions?
I had a curly flat 2007 but that went a couple of weeks ago due to the curly flat thread!

Has anyone got any older Hoddles 1st Pinot or Chardonnay. I put away my first cases this year and would love to see how they develop with age.

As some of you guys know I'm a bit of a Chardonnay pig, so it pains me to say I can't make this now. My wife found out today she has to go to Melbourne tomorrow for the rest of the week to interview people in relation to that Essendon plane crash, so I will be on child supervising duties Thursday night

P.S Croquet King, be interested in the Vat 47? Up to you though, it's going to be hard narrowing down the options. Suspect we'll have a lot of wine!

I think I have a 2010 1er pinot, will check after dinner
still trying to decide on the chard, so many possibilities, its killing me these 3rd world problems!

Not sure if people want to do their wines blind, I certainly don't mind a blind start to each wine, quick opinions/votes etc then reveal while we still have some in the glass? Or if people just want to say it and open it, that's cool too.

I think if everyone can bring 3 glasses each, we can do a few flights of 3, which can make for nice comparisons. And if you're like me and can't decide on just 1 or 2 chardonnay, more is fine, I'll bring plenty of spittoons! I can't settle on 2 so think I'll bring a blind flight of 3 chard......

I am happy to do the honorary champagne duties, and of course the obligatory chardy.

Ill be bringing a chardonnay and a pinot. Looking forward to it.

Out of interest does anyone have any Hoodles Chardonnay with a little age ie 3-4 plus, more if possible.

OK everyone, I'm OK with taking numbers up to 13 and including both winetastic and tamara at the very least.

Personally, I'm also tempted to push the boat out and ask all the reserves to come along if they want!! It means we could have up to 16 people and while I know many will be fine with this, it is borderline too many.

Could the reserves still indicate if they're super keen?

Would love to Tim, but I have my leave pass for Friday night. Bummed, as this is a great theme, and the night looks to hold much promise. IMO 16 is waaay too many. 13 is good

13 people to a bottle is just pushing it too far. It may be your personal philosophy but as you know its not shared by everyone. We struggled at the last evening with just 11 to get the bottles around the table. 13 will be just too hard. If we are going to move the limit I have 4 or 5 mates who would like to come so why not go for 20.

OK, Mark, I know you prefer small numbers, big casual pour etc, that's cool. But....

A) It's the organisers choice how many people can come. I know I said 12, but I hate excluding people. If I was on the reserve list, I'd love to be included and would happily take a smaller pour over not being there at all, or over excluding a good friend or two who I know would love to bring something nice. I suspect I'm in the majority in preferring 14 over 12 if it means no-one misses out. You get to try a greater variety of wines!

B) OK, maybe 16 was a stretch, but for 13 vs 12, how is 57.5ml so much worse than 62.5ml? Really? I'd simply rather have more wine enthusiasts enjoying the night than an extra 5-10ml of wine. We're not not drinking 78 Montrachets.

P.S Remember if you bring a wine, you are expected/entitled to take a bigger pour of your own wine.

I don't think you should go beyond 13 but 13 is easily doable, from experience we know it is doable with the same pour sizes as last time...

We didn't struggle with 11..there was only 1 wine that didn't make the rounds fully and that was because it was old so lost some to nature lost some to not pouring the wine that had sediment...and people didn't account for that...and even then the last two people (odyssey and myself) still got some...and FYI, a lot of the wines after 11 people still had more than 3 servings left....

It DOES mean people can't overpour but when you have 13 you know you have to watch it...

I can't go either way so I have no dog in this...

I've decided on a couple of Vat 47's - 2000 and 2003.
Looks like a vertical then.

I also found a 2011 Hoddles 1er which should fit the bill.
