Melbourne CBD offline - Sat Oct 15th - other varietals

Post by via collins »

Hi all,

The second gathering of Melb-based tasters is just around the corner.

Melbourne CBD Wine Tasting Group
Sat 15th October
6.30pm for a 7.00pm start

Theme: Bottles of “other” Aust wine varieties (where the wine is Aust-made, too). “Other” is defined by what it is not (including blends with > 50% from these varieties): not Shiraz, Cabernet, Traditional Cab blends where Cabernet is the major component even if <50%, (any wines 70%+ Merlot I’m allowing because we Aussies don’t drink much Merlot-dominant wines), Pinot Noir, Riesling (sorry Edward), Sav. blanc, and not Semillon. (BTW, special pleadings for exceptions will be given a fair hearing.)
Cost: there will be catered food of excellent standard at approx $55 per head.

This tasting really is going to be something completely different, a great opportunity to experiment with other varieties in the safety of a Melbourne home!

If interested, please RSVP to John Lowry: j.lowry@bigpond.net.au

If you do a mid week one, let me know as I'm in Melbourne for work all the time these days. Well, John would let me know anyway but just saying...
Cheers,
Kris

Partner and self would be very interested in catching up with the Melbourne offliners in the very near future...moving from Canberra to Melbourne in early December (but cellar won't be arriving until the weather cools down...)

Monday bump for the Melbourne wine appreciation meeting this Saturday evening. The theme of "other varietals" is enough to get me there, and the promise of meeting John and a handful of like-minded souls seals the deal.

Please, if you're in Melbs, or plan to be for the w/e, give this evening due consideration. Be great to see you there.

Cheers.

Aw drat, I'm moving house this Saturday, so will be cracking a few wines after with my helpers.. Actually attending this session would be better for the integrity of my cellar, alas, I'll try to make it the next time.. have fun!

Just let me know. Wednesdays and Thursdays usually best for me as I'm almost always here wed, thur and fridays during the working week. At least until mid November and maybe longer. I'm sure I could find something noice to bring along.
Cheers,
Kris

Hi folks

I've been looking for a Melbourne based tasting group for a while now. Obviously missed the 15th but would be eager to come along to future events. I work in East Melbourne and can weekdays or weekends

Thanks

Kessler
