I live in Sydney and store my wine in an insulated room, and cooled by a split air conditioner. For some reason, I log the dates in gets switched on and off each year.
I switch it on when the temp hits 17.5. It runs at 15.5.

When not drinking a fine red, I'm a cardboard claret man!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the point of global warming is that you can't actually see it over a short period (ie. a decade), it would only increase by 1-1.5 degrees over a period of half a century. But that being enough to redirect oceanic flows to melt polar ice caps, change el nino and the like.
I live in Perth, and I have a garden shed, with polyurethane insulation sprayed on the inside, and what is now a 14 year old refrigerated aircon system through the shell. My finish times extend to early May in a bad year, and I haven't turned the aircon on yet this year - a couple of weeks perhaps?
I should also add that, when I turn it on in warmer months, I turn it off at night unless the minimum outside temperature is over 16'. There is certainly a period of time when it is running on High 24/7.
Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
Wine fridges back on today. Internal temperatures ranged from 13.1 to 13.8 as I extracted a bottle of Te Mata Awatea 2001 this morning. I thought I was the only miserable to switch off over winter. Thanks for coming out..... Can't remember when switch off occured, but later than usual this year due to warm(ish) winter.
