Can anyone give me a heads up about Paxton wines? I've noticed that back vintages of their wines have popped up around town, specifically the 2003 Paxton Shiraz and the 2005 Paxton Chardonnay. Both have large plain white labels with Paxton in large block letters. The back labels says that the Shiraz comes from the Jones Block and the Chardonnay from the Thomas Block.

Re: Paxton Wines
Bought the wines and tasted them. Here are my notes.
2005 Paxton Chardonnay, Mclaren Vale, 14.5%
Pale yellow for a six year old wine, the nose however showing a hint of maturity, bright, nutty and lemony, with hints of leesy character.
Nice meld of muted fruit and fine oak, peach and pineapple coupled with cashew and nutty lees, and a long lingering finish. A good wine, with lots of character.
2003 Paxton Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 14.5%.
Deep garnet red, some bricking at the rim, nose is a bit sweet and minty, black fruits with plenty of menthol and eucalypt.
Initially sweet but mellows with aeration, blackberry and spice, slightly hot but not overbearingly so, finishes a bit awkward with a slight tannic grip and a hint of wood. Might be better with a bit more age.
I think the Chardonnay is at a better place right now but both are very drinkable and I will certainly buy more of both at the discounted price.

Re: Paxton Wines
I can back up Mahmoud on tasting notes. I reckon 'drink now'.
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
Re: Paxton Wines
Anyone with an 04 Elizabeth Jean or an 05 jones block shiraz that has tried them recently?
