Thought i'd do my bit for the home state............

Taste of Western Australia – Sydney, June 21
The Wine Industry Association of WA invites you to experience a ‘Taste of Western Australia’ showcasing the Best-of-the-West, right in the heart of the Sydney CBD. This Expo includes not only the opportunity to taste an extensive range of premium Western Australian wines, but to meet and network with winemakers.

There are also two exclusive masterclasses on offer:

Great Southern Riesling and Shiraz: 5:45 - 6:30pm
Hosted by Peter Forrestal, a Perth based wine writer, this masterclass will examine some of the best examples of Great Southern Riesling and Shiraz, covering sub-regional variation and aged styles. One of his current interests is how site influences the wines we taste. Peter will explore this idea with the wines that the group will be tasting.

Peter Forrestal writes a weekly wine column in the Sunday Times Magazine and contributes regularly to national and international publications including Gourmet Traveller Wine, the Qantas Magazine and Money Magazine. He is chairman of judges of Fine Wine Partners / GT Wine Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards and Gourmet Traveller Wine's Winemaker of the Year. He has written 15 books on wine and in 2009, he was named WCA's Australian Wine Communicator of the Year.

‘Cabernet in Motion’ – the evolving face of Western Australian Cabernet: 6:45 - 7:30pm
Hosted by Mike Bennie, a freelance wine writer and journalist based in Sydney, this masterclass will explore cabernet sauvignon from both traditional and emerging wine producers across WA wine regions and examine regional and vintage variations in this prominent WA wine variety.

Mike is currently the wine and drinks editor/columnist for Australia’s highest circulation food magazine ‘delicious’, a feature writer for Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine and is the Editor-At-Large and contributor to the highly respected online wine commentary website winefront.com.au. His wine writing work also appears in Time Out Magazine Sydney and Melbourne and he is a regular feature writer for National Liquor News Magazine.

Mike is also an active wine judge and a graduate of the prestigious Len Evans Tutorial.
