Brisbane Offline, Restaurant Two, Brisbane, Guest Sommeliers
Hi all
Who is keen for a Brisbane offline at Restaurant Two in the week of the 21st of Feb?
Express your interest and outline your preferred night. Any night, not Sunday (as the restaurant is closed).
Menu will likely be a five course mini-degustation with some matching wines, and we will of course bring our own beauties. No corkage being charged as I'll be at the dinner myself too - I'm their Head Sommelier.
Let me know and I'll organise. I already have two couples interested from elsewhere.
Kind regards
Daniel J.

I would be good for the Friday night as well. Maybe the wife as well as long as we can get a baby sitter.
Sounds like fun.

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Fear thee not, our restaurant was completely unscathed. Can't say the same for countless others. Sadly.

Hi Tim, oh no! Nights are horrible... that is, unless you're a Sommelier, hehe!
Definitely, feel free to call on me at the restaurant any time. I'm there every night and some days.
Feel free to call me 3210 0600 for the booking.

Re: Brisbane Offline, Restaurant Two, Brisbane, Guest Sommel
So Friday the 25th Feb is looking good for most. Spread the word, the more the merrier.
Plus, I have some awesome wines to show from my home cellar.
I'll organise a menu with Chef David Pugh this week and post here to entice!
Actually, it'd be really cool if he'd keep some black truffles for us... hmmmm... I ponder onwards into sleep!

Not much. It's a little out of my price range.
1 x1987 and 6 x 2004.
I got the 04 because I read many critics recommendations that said if you are ever going to buy Grange on release, buy this one. So I cashed in all my long service leave and got them.
The 2004 were the big worry because they were at the bottom of the cellar. However they were on top of the case of Teusner FG who's bottom is waterproof unlike the grange with it's big gaps.

Re: Brisbane Offline, Restaurant Two, Brisbane, Guest Sommel
I am just awaiting the final menu from Chef Pugh for this dinner, but will have it by tomorrow.
I will be opening some great wines from my own cellar....
2005 Pichon-Lalande
2001 Voyager Cab Merlot
a sexy 2004 Rhone (I'm keeping the producer secret)
and a Krug Grande Cuvee... possibly vintage, maybe NV
Chef Pugh is going to organise a very competitive price for the 5 courses, so I urge you all to lock that date in!

That's very generous. Looks like a good line up already. Looking forward to the TN/impressions.
Cheers,

Put me down for a +1 (my friend Tony).
I still have a 1991 Wynns Centenary that needs drinking (I'll decant into a non-flood-affected bottle at home )
I was at Restaurant II on Friday Daniel, but had a different sommelier. Every time I looked to catch your eye you were in the middle of something. That's a great winelist you have put together there.
The restaurant was out of the La Curio Grenache which I had wanted to try for some time, so I went for the 2005(?) Burge Family Winemakers 'Olive Hill' GSM (SGM?). It was brilliant. Food was excellent as was the service. Better than Aria where I was last night (which was very, very good). Two nights in a row at flash restaurants - unprecedented. Restaurant II won on food, wine and service BTW.
Cheers
Michael

I'm a definite and I'm trying to get a sitter so Michelle can attend as well. We always have a lovely time dining at II so are looking forward to this.
Not sure what I'm bringing yet, possibly an 06 Cristom Eileen Pinot.

I've had the 2005 a few times now...pretty expressive and forward wine...a touch jubey, lots of extract...pretty much Chris's thoughts in that article
Re: Brisbane Offline, Restaurant Two, Brisbane, Guest Sommel
Still keen. Travel is very haphazard at the moment but we will be there if I am in Brisbane. Probably bring a Kays Block 6 and a clear wine of some description.

Re: Brisbane Offline, Restaurant Two, Brisbane, Guest Sommel
Thanks Michael, that's very kind indeed.
That wine list changes .. da da duuum.. tomorrow.
Hence why we had no La Curio (which is AMAZING, by the way). Perhaps I'll try to organise a bottle for our dinner... let me see what I can do.
That list was a product mostly of the Sommelier who served you - Peter. He was the Head Som. before me (with me coming on board 2 months ago).
So sorry I missed you - should have thrown something at me... (I like the green-backs, fyi). haha!
I was actually in a section, I think... we were short on staff. Fun times!
Will send you all the menu tomorrow evening.

LOL, no - just the lack of info has meant me booking something else now.

I didn't like what Craig said. I'm out!
Seriously. Have had an issue crop up and can not be available on the 25th. Sorry for the short notice. Perhaps something around Easterish...

Ditto for me too. No info just 7 days out, so we have organized something else. Shame really as it sounded like a good night of nice food and wine.
Look forward to the next one.
