24 x O'Leary Walker Polish Hill Riesling 2008 -- 25% at Waitrose over here and a top quaff by the sound of it.

Ended up doing a local wine tour, I suppose it's about time I put some Queensland wines into the cellar;

2 x 05 Albert River Wines Poinciana Shiraz Vioginier
2 x NV Albert River Wines Sparkling Red
1 x 10 Cedar Creek Moscato
2 x 05 Cedar Creek Syrah
2 x 09 Heritage Estate Reserve Cab Sav
3 x 09 Heritage Estate Chardonnay Verdelho
3 x 09 Heritage Estate Frontignac Sauvignon Blanc
2 x NV Heritage Estate Moonshine Madness
2 x 09 Heritage Estate Club Red

The two standouts for me were the Shiraz and the bulk of the rest should provide something different over summer.

12 x cleanskin yarra valley blanc de blanc. These are Debortoli Rococo from the first production run. I've tasted them back to back with the labelled wine and I couldn't pick the difference, and at $12 a bottle, pretty tasty drinking with loads of toasty hazelnuts on the nose and white peach in the mouth. I guess the winery just ran out of those fancy bottles :?:

Hmm. Rare openings of the wallet.
Annual mixed case of rose for summer. Felines Jourdan and Lascaux, both languedoc, and a new label
for me, Le Jarras, Domaine Listel, Vin de Pays de Sables du Golfe du Lion. Whew. What a mouthful
for an appellation. Looked it up; the coastal region fronting the Med of the Herault. Known as the Camargue.
Dom. Listel a large, industrial style, producer, easy un-demanding quaffer according to someone living nearby.

And, 6 x 2008 Obsidian. Waiheke Is. bordeaux style red.

cheers jafa.

I got my six pack of 02 Warhol Dom Perignon at a reasonable price (for Australia) so happy with that.

Also got a 63 Fonseca port at auction at a pretty good price. This will be going in the pile of wines for my 50th in three years. How did I get so old so quickly? At least one can find wines that will stil be drinking well at 50 years of age. (Just like me)

Happy days.
Cheers,
Kris

Was there much difference in price between the Warhols and the regular DP at around $200? Cool labels.

It ended up being around $220 but I got it via a back door method. The only place I saw it retail was $250. I was pretty happy with $220ish. It was as low as 100 pounds in the UK and US$140 so it's still quite a premium here in comparison.
Cheers,
Kris

3x 2009 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier

So many good reviews. Couldn't resist.

What's the drinking window on this? With only 3, I won't be drinking one now. How long to wait?

I don't know for sure because I don't know how you like your wines, but I will try and wait 10 years or so if I can. It really needs that much at least in my opinion. Not because it's so huge that it needs 10 years to soften or tone down. This wine needs 10 years so it can flesh out and become a great wine to enjoy with good food. That's what you would hope for at least. If the wine is as good as they say it is, it should sail through 10 years with ease, and then go another 10 providing you store it relatively well.
I tried the 2004 instore last week and it was a very, very interesting wine, that in my opinion can only be improving in bottle. No need to rush.

It has been available for as low as USD120, so long as you don't want the fancy silver writing, just normal ink (there are different labels, with differing premiums).

The stuff in the bottle is superb, in the main, though one bottle was so-so.

Some xmas bubbles:
NV Bollinger
NV Laurent Perrier
02 Moet
Also threw in some 08 Bay of Fires Pinot and The Yard Riesling (think 09) to round the dozen.

Got a couple of gifts recently, both magnums – 06 Torbreck Factor & 07 La Pleiade Shiraz

Finally, split a case of 09 Dal Zotto Arneis with a friend.

Cheers

Hey, so I guess $200 per bottle would be a pretty good price...

Just got 4x 2002 Dom Perignon for $195 each.

Yes, you guessed it, one for soon (well, you got to don't you, given all the hype...) and three for later.

Nar. Take me at least a couple of years to get a cork out.

Tempted again. Between wine glut and winery business failures there are some bargains around.
6 x 2007 Paritua 2112 at $30pb. Some of these already in cellar, but at that price. Need to find a
space to store these now! The trials of collecting.

there does seem to be a shortage of places in Auckland that will store wine. The one place so far I have tracked down asks silly prices for storage. I keep checking as I pick up wines each year EP off Waiheke. If you find anywhere with reasonable prices, please post.

Yep, also couldn't resist at that price, so bought (another) 6. Only problem is I'm now so over-loaded on the "07 HBs that I'll also be struggling finding somewhere to store the '09s.

Cheers
