T-Chow does have some decent glasses now, but if you want more than one each it may still pay to BYO stems. At this stage I'm thinking of taking a 96 white Burgundy, and a 98 red Burgundy.

I am leaning towards a 94 Nine Popes as long as you don't consider that it will be past it. I will give some though on the other wine depending on whether we will need a white or red to balance things out. Am toying with giving the 96 lovedale another go, but will give it a more thorough taste test this time after last week's debacle.

Not wanting to usurp Ian's role, but it looks like we have the following line-up:

Franco - Chablis, old Barolo, Hoddles Creek Pinot Blanc
N4Sir - '96 white burgundy, '98 red burgundy

The extras outside the forum I were talking to haven't seemed to pan out, so I've confirmed for a table of six.

Wine line-up looks good. I'm having second thoughts about the 96 white Burg - maybe a second, ballsy red or even a VP instead?

I was toying with the idea of maybe taking the 2006 Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache as my second bottle (18.5% alc)...

... on second thought though, maybe the 2005 Ngeringa Adelaide Hills Syrah would be more sensible. The red burgundy should be a 1998 Antonin Guyon Chambolle-Musigny, Clos du Village Monopole.

I am having a shocking run of bad wine lately. I must have really pissed off the wine gods...

First impressions of the Eileen Hardy aren't good. I think it's past it... I'll know for sure in a few hours.

So, I opened an 02 Clarendon Hills Shiraz. It stinks to high heaven and I have to say that it's the only wine I've had near my nose that, whilst sober and without a hangover, has caused me to gag. It's a shocker.

In desperation I returned to the cellar and fetched a 2003 Primo Estate Joseph Moda. This appears to be doing alright - it's chilling out in the decanter now.

Expect either a Joseph or a Joseph and an Eileen Hardy...!

I wonder what the grocer's excuse about the Eileen Hardy will be? Maybe you can ask them if they stock anything that isn't oxidised to replace it with!

Any idea what's up with the Clarendon Hills - corked or something else? I had the idea this was the vintage that did pretty well at the Ed's Shiraz Challenge last year, although I also think when I tried it at the time I thought it was a bit volatile (EA/nail polish remover characters).

The Clarendon Hills, however... faults have always been my weakness but this one had a horrible nose of cabbage/butter/bacon - mercaptans again?

I have my reservations about the '96 Euleen Hardy. Would be keen to see how it went for you guys.
