Dark, black-violet in color, this is a rich, lush, beautifully balanced wine - in my mind the quintessential Barossa shiraz. Although it spends over 2 years in oak, there are no obvious signs in the nose or flavors, which are also exceedingly well balanced; this is not one of those licorice/tar/chocolate bombs. Lively, but not overpowering tannins make this drinkable now, but point to a long life. I will leave the rest of mine to sleep for at least another 5 years. 93/100.

Great to hear this is coming along well and that there are a number of 98's that look like they will age impressively. I recently picked up a few of the 98 Blackwell's (for $30) and am wondering if you or anyone else has tried one recently. Incidently, I am very impressed with the current release 01' Blackwell (at around $25).
