A few fortifieds and spirits

Post by Kieran »

Penderyn Whisky: A Welsh single malt. Ours might be the only bottle in Australia, since they've only just released it and it was brought over by a friend living in Wales. I'm not the Scotch drinker of the household, but the individual who is rated it as a seriously good drop. Definitely too good for survival Scotch - sip it slowly and enjoy.

Seppelt Oloroso: Probably as dry as my sweet tooth will allow me. Very tasty stuff, magnificent value at $20 or so.

Talijancich Julian James White Liqueur: A mixture of Muscadelle (Tokay) and Pedro. Very tasty, simple grapy flavours (like a mid-range tokay) but with a nice burnt toffee edge. Fair value at around $20...if I can get some at the price it sold for at auction recently, it will become my standard quaffing fortified.

For the same price or less you can get Seppelts Tokay and it is very good value.

I paid around $20 for my bottle and thought the value fair (but not great). In some ways it's a nicer drop than (say) Seppelt Grand Muscat.

The price I saw it go for at auction recently was more like $4-5.
