Whooda thunk it?

Post by Davo »

Tomorrow night is curry night with a mate. Though I would introduce him to a red wine that I think absolutely rips with a stinking hot spicy curry. Could I find any on the shelves of no less than 5 local liquor stores?

No.

What could this totally unavailable wine be?

Comments from store owners, managers, and slaves along the lines of "None available until next vintage", "We can't keep it on the shelves, sells faster than we can stock it"

I have written positively about it a couple of times and it is still available everywhere. The Red Bigot gives it a half positive offhand mention and it flies off the shelves.

It is now the most sought after wine in the western hemisphere, or at least the eastern suburbs of Perth.

What is it?

Grange, NO

HOG, NO

St Peters, NO

It's not, it's not, no it isn't!

It's Brown Brothers Dolcetto & Syrah. Unavailabel in the eastern suburbs of Perth until September this year. Un-bloody-believable.

Looks like I will have to settle for some sparkling red, or perhaps something you can just buy off the shelf, like Grange.

A rose is another red(dish) alternative.

A guilty pleasure of mine too - a good wine for what it is
