Sept - What have you been buying
Re: Sept - What have you been buying
6 x 2004 Penfolds Bin 389 Big chain store flogging them for under $50 in any 6. Can't find anyone (including auctions) that can sell them at that price.
2 x 2008 Adelina Grenache
2 x 2008 Adelina Cabernet Sauvignon
8 x 2008 Adelina Shiraz
Wine maker at Adelina (Colin) said they are by far the best wines he has made from the Adelina Vinyard so I can't wait for the order to arrive in early October.
Now bankrupt until January 2010!

Same here. Except the 'big chain shore' I got mine from had them at $45 p/b. Am very happy to have some of this to keep.

Re: Sept - What have you been buying
I too will succumb to the Clonakilla mailer
- 2x SV
- 2x Hilltops
- 2x O'Riada
- 2x Riesling
- 2x Nouveau Viognier
And also,
- 2 more 2004 Grange
- In fact with the Grange, at the till, the total for the mixed dozen came to $570 odd. I looked at the scanner, and they had charged me for 2x 707s instead. So instead of $490, I could have walked away with the Grange at $140 each. However, I felt compelled to correct them... so $1270 odd instead...
Cheers,
Monghead.

I can think of a few people that would have left, come back and bought a couple of cases...
Good on you for being honest.

We are getting ripped off. That's like $1.50 Au!
Seriously though: How much would it cost to send a six pack to Brisbane?

Pak n Save are a large discount supermarket, so they wouldn't ship. Craig might start a shipping to Aus business at those prices!

Re: Sept - What have you been buying
Craig (NZ) I tried that Church Rd Reserve Syrah 07 at the Tri Nations on Friday night. Smelled absolutely disgusting. Really foul brett. Hope it was just a faulty bottle.
My only recent purchase and likely last purchase for a while was a case of Vissoux Beaujolais 08. Love Beaujolais ... perfect summer red.

Re: Sept - What have you been buying
I've been bad.
I wasn't going to buy any more until 2010, but got the Greenock Creek list and purchased a case:
2 Grenache
4 Cab sav
6 Alices.
If the wife finds out she'll want to buy shoes...
Now how to hide them from the wife??

Re: Sept - What have you been buying
Quick Hunter day trip on Saturday yielded:
1x 2006 Meerea Park Alexander Munro Shiraz
2x 2007 Meerea Park The Aunts Shiraz
2x 2007 Tyrrell's Stevens Shiraz
1x 2008 Tulloch Verdelho
1x 2007 Tulloch Private Bin Pokolbin Shiraz
1x 2005 Audrey Wilkinson Lake Reserve Shiraz
3x 2008 Audrey Wilkinson Pioneer Rose
With the Sonoma trip and the Clonakilla mailing list as well it's turning into an expensive month. Then this morning I see the Winefront note on the new Jack Mann (one of my favourites) and it looks like my poor wallet is going to take another battering quite soon...

really ?? hmm im the reverse.....one thing i put as a minus for this wine was it was a little 'clinical' and 'formulatic'. i may be barking up the wrong tree totally here but big companies in nz seem very ready to do all that is required to get a 'clean wine' whether sterile filtering or dumping buckets of whatever bug killer into the brew. the more boutique wineries seem to risk it a bit and hang it out there with light/no fining or filtering. (and no i don't really know what im talking about with these techo aspects im supposing)
If there is any brett in the crr 07 i feel sorry for the poor soul that has such sensitivity. Brett is the new VA and debating it bores me (though reading the debates entertain me)
To me, and many others (including MW's who im guessing are well trained), it is a brilliant wine, great price, and i certainly am not singing that praise solo.

Agree witrh Craig. Seems highly unlikely to me. Wineries either have a brett problem or they don't (and CR don't), its rarely a factor in bottle variation. Perhaps there was something dodgy or bretty in the glass before you tasted the CR reserve.
Cheers,
Mike

im trying it again blind on wed. i didnt detect anything dodgy in it at all in any of the last half doz or so times ive tasted/ drunk it. perhaps it was caused by an austrlian wine of ill repute tasted beforehand

Hmmm,
(1) deliver to work, and take to storage facility discretely, or one by one to home cellar over a few weeks.
(2) deliver them to a friend, and trust that they will get it to you safely (I'll be that token friend... )
(3) get a nice pair of shoes, send them to Greenock Creek, and get them to wrap it up with the wine order prior to delivery... something for everyone... and i bet you the next wine order will be swmbo scrutiny free...
Good Luck,
Monghead.

Or just deliver to ur wine storage facility where they'll hold until you pack away or pick up the wine, like they do for me at kennards.
On the buying front, eyeing lots, but limited funds. however i did manage to hide a purchase on a separate card (from my better half)of a btl of 06 DRC La tache. Happy i got some but ouchy ouch on the price!

I too have space at Kennards and have opted for that option. Just waiting notification of delivery. Hope they don't ring the wife!
