Not an easy year. No vintage ports around either that may have lasted the distance. May have to go for the conception year?
Otherwise Bordeaux may be the go. Apparently Lafleur is the one to get. 98 Parker points etc.
cheers

There must be some '79 VP's kicking around that are still going OK !?
Have a look at isleofwine (I know, second time I've mentioned it this week). They have LOADS of '79 fortifieds, and not terribly expensive. Rutherglen, Barossa, McLarenVale, Hunter Valley all appear to be represented.
Smack my [insert grape type here] up !

I was thinking portuguese in my head but didn't translate to the keyboard
Yes, have had a few 79's that were good from Australia. I think it was a Kay Bros that was one that I particularly liked a few years ago now.

Some people slurp it,others swill it,a few sip on it,some gaze at it for hours ,enough now wheres the RED

I have a '79 Las Cases so far. Will try to get another '79 red in case of a dud, and maybe an Armagnac...
Ah, the 78 Las Cases that David Lole kindly provided was an awakening call to the joys of aged claret. Enlightening wine. If a tenth as much emerges from your bottle of the 79 then you will be fine
