The Best Sav Blanc.....
My wife and I are big fans of Sav Blanc and were curious as to which one everyone else rates as the best and why??? We have our own order of preference but are interested in hearing othe's view points.
Please share here. We're hoping to pick up on a few boutique ones that we are yet to discover.

Why do people ruin perfectly good Shiraz by blending it with other varieties? Oh the humanity of it all......
I've made my loathing of the variety well known. In most cases I'd rather gyrate to the soothing sounds of Glen Campbell or James Last.
However, I did at the weekend have a very nice De Bortoli Estate Sauvignon. Lots of oak and barrel ferment, tight as yorkshire man's ring, with lots of nutty, leesy characters you'd expect from all that barrel meets wine, goes on 2nd date, gets married has kids stuff
Gembrook Hill in the Yarra is a stunner
I've also, in case you're interested, had some stunning Sancerre in the past, but I can't name a producer right now. Timberland; there you go.

I like the Tower Estate Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc. It doesn't have any of the nasty sickliness that you often get - it's a much more subtle flavour though with the usual grass/passionfruit. Only down side for me is I recall it being quite pricey for a "drink soon" white, somewhere around $30-40.

Over the past three or four years I've tried quite a few but I keep coming back to Allan Scott from Marlborough. Retails for about $19 in Aus but you can find it on special for less than $15 if you're prepared to wait. Nice grassy bouquet with passionfruit. Very crisp taste - goes well with good fish.

G'day
I'm not a huge fan of SB myself, but I can't go past Ashbrook in Margaret River. For less than $20 (just) they produce a delightful SB with absolute clarity of fruit flavours (which is a hallmark of all their whites anyway). Give it a go.
Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

It's also served in Business Class on Cathay Pacific..... And yes, it's not bad.
One for the trivia buffs....

The Shaw and Smith is good.... We definitely rate it in our top ten.
Thanks foe everyone's input. For those that are interested, here's how we rate them (Our top 10 of the readily available ones that we've tried anyway);
10. Blicks Lane
9. Oyster Bay
8. Giesen estate
7. Matua Valley
6. Pencarrow
5. Shaw & Smith
4. Villa Maria
3. Gapsted winery
2. Cloudy Bay
1. Catalina Sounds
Of course it all depends upon the vintage but that's how we've pretty much settled our order of preference. Though mind you, we haven't tried the Astrolabe or Dog Point yet... We'll put it on our list of things to do.
