I just got a message from Maximus: his +2 are now definitely non-starters, and it's questionable if he can make it too - looks like we're back down to somewhere between 9-12 people:

Taswegian - 05 Pirie Reserve PN, and a cab sav blend
Gavin Trott
PaulG +1 - 06 Nobilo Icon Pinot Gris, 02 Will Taylor Pinot Noir
n4sir +1-2 - 03 Jeanneret Riesling, 05 Curly Flat Macedon PN or Bruno Colin 1er Cru Santennay
Scanlon +1 - Jansz late disgorged & ?
welch +1
Maximus (maybe)

Cheers,
Ian

Darn, that's a shame. Well, hopefully Maximus is able to come at least :)

Ideally it would be best if we can get at least 10 people attending, purely so I don't feel guilty about the restaurant opening specially for us!!

Okay, Simon just emailed asking if we were anywhere close to having finalised our numbers, and also if we could please let him know whether there are any dietary requirements to be catered for.

If possible I'd like to email this all through by 9am tomorrow at the latest.

Cheers!

Crap - that's moved things forward a bit from COB that was mentioned before. I've had a hell of a morning, no hot water and I'm trying to get a plumber this afternoon to fix it before the long weekend.

One of my +1s has just dropped out, and while the other was very keen last Monday night I haven't heard anything concrete yet - I'm still waiting on an email back to confirm he's a starter.

With Maximus being very doubtful I'd say we're down to 9-10 people, an outside chance at 11. By the end of today I think we should be close to a definite number:

Taswegian - 05 Pirie Reserve PN, and a cab sav blend
Gavin Trott
PaulG +1 - 06 Nobilo Icon Pinot Gris, 02 Will Taylor Pinot Noir
n4sir (maybe +1) - 03 Jeanneret Riesling, 05 Curly Flat Macedon PN or Bruno Colin 1er Cru Santennay
Scanlon +1 - Jansz late disgorged & ?
welch +1
Maximus (maybe)

Cheers,
Ian

So from my count we have 10 confirmed, 2 maybes - is that right?

As soon as we have our maybes confirmed or opted out, I'll email simon, so let me know guys :)

Hi PaulG

I can confirm my extra +1 (ie now i am +2)

Also thinking about the wine choices, in light of the cheese i will change the pinot to a sticky of some kind.

can your friend give us an idea of the cheeses we will be having?
i have ports, fortified shiraz, tokay, muscat and sauternes and it would be nice to be able to try to match something.

Thanks
sarah

I can also confirm my other +1 now, so you can tell Simon we should have 11 starters, with the possibilty of Maximus making it 12 people.

Taswegian - 05 Pirie Reserve PN, and a cab sav blend
Gavin Trott
PaulG +1 - 06 Nobilo Icon Pinot Gris, 02 Will Taylor Pinot Noir
n4sir +1 - 03 Jeanneret Riesling, 05 Curly Flat Macedon PN or Bruno Colin 1er Cru Santennay & ?
Scanlon +2 - Jansz late disgorged & ?
welch +1
Maximus (maybe)

Cheers,
Ian

Okay folks,
We're all confirm (except Maximus).

Re: The cheese, the response I got was:
no worries, the cheese provided will be a double cream brie (fully
imported from france) a jindi soft blue ( strong yet subtle) and a
tasmanian mature chedder. Would it not be a good idea if the cheese was
shared? a large platter would be ideal.

I am horribly ashamed because I originally started this thread, however, due to reasons of a personal nature, I did not get on the plane to Adelaide this morning.
I apologise I will not make it.
Never enough Pinot........but now I have found shiraz

Main
Double baked Duck, eggplant, lentils etc ( no proscuito for those who don't eat it)
Dessert
Cheese platter to share

No Corkage fee at all

A slight change in plan of what I'm taking - I found I had a couple of spare bottles after the 2002 riesling horizontal last week, so I'm taking an 02 Petaluma instead of the Jeanneret. I've also settled on taking the Curly Flat:

Gavin Trott
PaulG +1 - 06 Nobilo Icon Pinot Gris, 02 Will Taylor Pinot Noir
n4sir +1 - 02 Petaluma Riesling, 05 Curly Flat Macedon Pinot Noir & ?
Scanlon +2 - Jansz late disgorged & 04 Providence Pinot Noir & ?
welch +1
Maximus (maybe)

Cheers,
Ian

Thanks Paul for organising this and for everyone's interesting bottles.

It was a really diverse night and very relaxed and much less wine soaked than the average offline :)

My pleasure to help with the organisation. It was lovely meeting all of you - I'm looking forward to reading some people's tasting notes for the night so I can compare them to my experiences!! (I promise I'll bring a note-pad next time!
