I started to drink a bottle of Catalina Sounds 07 SB the other night. As my partner was already asleep when I got home, I did not manage to finish it. (yes, I am a wuss)
Anyway, when I opened it again last night, (screwcap), it had a decidedly "dairy"smell and taste. I have seen this with malo'd chardies before but not SB. The Catalina Sounds SB does have aproportion of oak to it does this affect this???

Hey Taswegian.. I don't think time in oak would have created that effect.. it would only increase astringency in the short term and I imagine some body... very Sancerre.
Maybe it was stirred on lees for a long time? I have had a few SBs (mind you, I hated them!) that were manufactured that way.

I have had a few SBs (mind you, I hated them!)
How dare you. All I/we have is Rugby Union and Sauvignon Blanc. We suck at League(although go the warriors), can't play netball, do not know which way the cricket bat goes.
Please do not criticise the one thing of joy the land of the long white grape has given me.

If you read my comments correctly, you'd have noticed I was referring to SB's done in the certain style produced by lees stirring!

personally i find nothing worng with this comment, its fair enough. The old "im not gonna play marbles with lordson" comments should be limited to 5 year olds in the playground.
Lordson there are a few producers that do wine in 375mls. Does Henschke still do them? Kumeu River does. Maybe people could add to this list good wines that come in 375ml bottles
Either that or invite friends over!! Get someone to help. If you only want a glass or two stick to beer or whip yourself up a G+T or B+C
