TN: Dutschke Oscar Semmler 2002

Post by Wizz »

I don't keep a lot of Shiraz these days, but I do have a few of these. And as it turns out, a worthwhile wine indeed. This really is kinda nice in a Barossa way.

Very dark colour, red purple at the rim. Heady lifted prune black olive and licorice nose, a little VA apparent, along with some milk chocolate. Palate is jubey blackcurrants mulberries, sarsparilla and prominent but tasty cedary, dark chocolate elements. Warm and cuddly and rich and full of stuffing. This is a beauty in its big, Barossa style. 15% alcohol. This will hold for a bit longer, not sure if or how it might improve though.

91 points or thereabouts.

Cheers

Andrew,

I love the range of Dutschke wines and have always wondered what the Dutschke Oscar Semmler 2002 was like.

I opened up a bottle of the 2006 St Jakobi last week and it was excellent. The 2006 GHR is also a favourite. Overall, Dutschke is just a great winery producing quality wines!.

Cheers

Sounds nice. I remember Butcher and Son of Butcher sporting tents in their pants about the Dutschke wines when I was first starting out in the wine industry six or seven years ago. I was never smart enough to stash any away, so remember this for our next offline...
