www.aroundmelbourne.com.au needs a wine reviewer
Hello,
We are in pre launch/ development of our latest website
Our site is an Online Guide to Melbourne and regional Victoria and offers information on bars, cafes, restaurants and service available in Victoria.
We have decided to include a Wine review section and are interested in obtaining wine review input from interested parties,
The process is updated entirely online and will provide valuable information to a broad user base.
In return, interested parties will be permitted to promote their services within the author section. Additionally, an ad will be included on the wine review page highlighting your company’s product and services.
If you are interested or require additional information please contact us to discuss.
Regards
AL

I had a look at your website.
Quite a bit of wine industry cloke and dagger stuff.
And i thought it was all about drinking the sauce.
I guess the 3,800 tasting notes and thousands of pages of Tour Diaries don't qualify in your eyes.
My site is free to all wine lovers, contains no advertising and generates no revenue and is completely independent. Its a labour of love and is designed to assist wine lovers, not make money. (Other than your site being free,) can you say any of that about your site?
...... and please tell us, have you had anyone take you up on the offer you made here and on Winestar?

lol that's a bit rough. Give the chap a chance, they're just starting out.
Mind you, the site looks in the very early stages.
I would post wine reviews there but this forum and my own blog would definitely take precedence.
It's hard to start anything new on the internet these days.. TORBWine is brilliant, AL - you should definitely check it out and see what others are doing.

Its a matter of philosophical principle. My site is not about making money, its about the love of wine and sharing that love freely. It will never contain advertising or cost anything.
For a long time I have felt the world would be a better place is there was less greed and people were not driven by an "I want more" attitude, - so I am just practising what I feel.
Everything doesn't have to be about making money.
Most people would think that's a crazy attitude but that's fine, I am happy doing what I am doing.

agree with the ol fulla here, hobbies dont have to be about money and the other thing is you can be a bit of an ass on your own website occassioanlly without having to answer to advertisers indirect pressure or pressure on yourself to be a certain someway for people. Money relieves you of the luxury of 'not caring less' and perhaps also makes it more difficult to be completely honest
For the same reasons I never look for samples from anyone and in fact look to avoid it. I wanna pay my own way, owe no one anything and they owe nothing to me.

Well, you thought 'it' a little wrong, AL.
Being ITB (any business for that matter) can mean you're loathe to speak your mind, you say nice things when they're not true, you duckshove, you overpoint, you brown-nose, you connive, you back-stab ..... because you want to go places or get a little more of this or a lot more of that ..... pffffftttt!
I can count on one hand the very few fiercely independent wine writer's in this country, who, at whatever personal expense, are prepared to expose both the good and the bad of the industry for the common good of the passionate wine drinker and, just as importantly, for the good of the industry as a whole. Ric's propensity to expose some of the "bad" things, without fear or favour, is a bloody good thing. If TORB attached "commercial interest" to his site, in order to attract the "dollar" perhaps the content might just have to be somewhat different. Knowing the bloke, I'm glad it's just the way it is and hope it stays that way.
Cheers,
David

Werden, Gavin ...... Werden, the surname in the upper left hand corner! Although, after looking at the bloke I'd reckon there's somethin' pretty fishy about that name. Depol?
