Interested to know what you'd all buy for $150, shiraz, cab sav, blend, whatever.

That would be 6 bottles at about $150 for the 6 in varieties from the below regions.

Margaret River Cab Sav/Shiraz
Barossa/McLaren Vale Shiraz
Coonawarra/Barossa Cab Sav
Victorian Shiraz

The Story Wines 'Orphan' Shiraz comes in around the $20 mark, 05 is probably all sold out now? 06 has been released a little early - so grab x3

Follow up with x3 Meerea Park 'The Aunts' Shiraz 2005, available around the $25 mark.

you'd probably get change from $150 for the following 6 bottles, I think all are good wines in the price bracket:

2004 Vasse Felix Cabernet Merlot
2005 Schild Estate Barossa Shiraz
2005 Kaesler Stonehorse Shiraz
2004 Zema Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
2006 Seppelts Chalambar Shiraz
2006 Penfolds Koonunga Hill ‘Cellar Door’ Release

I'd happily change the Victorian shiraz for a 2006 Teunser 'Joshua' or a 2005 Penley Estate Shiraz though

Current vintage of the Joshua is 2007 - the 2006 sold out at CD months ago. Looks like a good line-up but the Chalambar 06 needs time, the 04 tasted recently has come together nicely over the last couple of years.

From Margs, Brown Hill Chaffers (Shiraz) and Hannans (Cab Sav) usually good value at $16, although not sure about the 06 vintage in MR. Recently had an 04 Hannans and it was a corker!

Not on your list but just down the road in Pemberton, Picardy Shiraz and/or Merlot-Cabernets at $20 direct from the winery, much more at bottle shops.

Cheers

Avoid the 06 Brown Hill reds....they are VERY ordinary..
