Firstly thanks to all who've been generous in providing me with suggestions for Pinot tasting in the Yarra valley. Now I'm after more help (such a user!).
I'm in Melbourne next Saturday and I'd like to find a nice wine bar which has a good selection by the glass and, if possible, is well situated to view the "passing traffic" . I'm thinking of something like the equivalent of The Universal in Adelaide. Basically I'm having a short break and fancy the idea of a relaxed indulgent Saturday afternoon!
Suggestions appreciated!
Cheers,
Mark

Mark,
there are several wine bars that you could check out. They vary according to atmosphere, cost and of course the crowd.
There's Jimmy Watson's at 333 Lygon St, good for a simple pre-dinner drink if you're in the area.
The Melbourne Supper Club and the European Wine Bar are at 161 Spring St, they close late, so I usually drop by after Punch Lane (43, Lt Bourke St) which has good food and cheese to go along with a drop or three.
People watching can be done when you're sitting down at the Melbourne Wine Room, 125 Fitzroy St, St Kilda.

Is that a good or bad thing? Has it improved since I've been away?
Thanks for the replies, I might try and visit a couple of those mentioned (must put in some effort to help support these businesses )
Nayan, The Universal hasn't really changed, but it is a good place to sit and veg out for an afternoon, and watch the traffic, of course. Stop getting off the topic.. when are you coming back?
