Some auction lots
2 x 1962 Lagrange (St Julian)
2 x 1962 Montrose
2 x 1976 Lagrange (St Julian)
6 x 1971 Pavie
1 x 1994 Chablis Les Clos, des Malandes
1 x 1987 Quinta da Cavadinha (Warre) Port
1 x 1988 Clos des Papes C9dP
Plus a few quaffers. Waiting to hear if I got some Wynns 1991 Cab Sav + Berry's Bridge 1999 (hopeful) or others (bottom fishing, so no expectation).

In retail, a 2004 Portuguese Dao (Quinta da Garrida) and 2005 Te Mata Woodthorpe Chardonnay to put up against Elston from the same vintage.

Stocks high at the moment, so looking for some xmas drinking to bring numbers down again

regards

Ian

Got overly enthusiastic in November so the only wines I've been buying this month have been daily drinkers:

Ingoldby chard 06 (1)
St Hallett Faith shiraz 04 (1)
Jacobs Creek riesling 07 (3 - the standout)

But I have been digging into the wine cabinets as well to make room for at least some of the November purchases as well as reducing the number of those by drinking them from the cases. The most disappointing of those from the cabinets has been Penfolds Bin 128 05. The sole remaining bottle will be left until 2010 at least to see if it improves. Mitolo Jester cab 04 was ok but a bit simple, sweet and only just varietal. Bullers Calliope shiraz 02 was interesting, possibly needs more time though previous storage arrangements may have damaged it. Turkey Flat cab 03 was the best from the cabinet, I've posted a TN of it somewhere.

From the boxes, those that have impressed most are Kaesler Stonehorse shiraz 05 (big Barossa shiraz, well balanced), Wise Wines Reserve chard 05 (this was a surprise and a great bargain for $20 - better than any other chard I have a memory of) and Teusner Salsa rose 07 (serious rose, better than my memories of earlier Turkey Flat roses).

Cheers

Some ridiculous "close out" prices on some Aussie wines saw me pick up the following for USD 980. I dont need them (espcially the Pyrus), nor can I store them, but I just couldn't say no.

24 x 03 Lindemans Pyrus
12 x 00 Lindemans Pyrus
12 x 01 Lindemans Limestone Ridge
12 x 04 Penfolds Bin 389
6 x 04 Kalleske Greenock Shiraz
6 x 98 Penfolds St Henri

I also picked up a 6 pack of Krug MV and 04 Solaia.

Hi all,

Started off good, just with quaffers:

12x 2007 Brookland Valley Verse 1 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
6x Brand's Liara Cabernet Sauvignon

But then just in the last few days, old habits re-emerged:

1x 1988 Krug
1x 1978 La Tour Haut Brion
1x 1978 Hill of Grace
2x 2004 Chateau Lafite
6x 2004 Bass Phillip Premium Pinot

I think I know what one of my new year's resolutions will have to be!!!

Cheers,

Monghead.

Mr/Ms. Bank Manager wont be having palpitations... yet.

12x Tyrrell 2007 Lost Block Semillon (ordered 2006 - but at $9 a bottle & delivered I'm not too annoyed).
3x Rosemount 1994 Blue Mountain (ex eBay).
2x Seppelt 1997 Drumborg Riesling (VERY nice).

There is still time to find another special wine or three for the festivities. :)

Only quaffers whilst drinking down some of the stock in the wine coolers and some of the recent purchases so those remaining will have a pleasant sleep in the limited berths available:

Metala White Label Shiraz/Cab 05 (1)
St Hallett Faith Shiraz 04 (1)
Ingoldby Chardonnay 06 (1)
Jacobs Creek Riesling 07 (several, it's cheap, it's very good and it's summer) :D

4x Pewseyvale Riesling '07
1x Pewseyvale Gewurst '07 (should be interesting!)
12x Adelaide University Chardonnay Semillon + a dash of Viognier '07 and 1/2 (at $40 a case it's a good summer quaffer and supporting wine research at the same time makes it very worthwhile)
1x Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling '04
1x Villa Maria Sav Blanc Cellar Selection '07
1x Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz '04
1x Cape West Howe Shiraz '05
and some more....

So a case of Pure blonde - it keeps me soooo skinny!
6 x 06 Brown Brothers Chardonnay
3 x ?? DeBortoli Windy Peak Pinot noir
3 x Verse1 Semillon sav blanc.

All just for christmas quaffing with the rels.

Oh and some long flat red in the 1 litre cardbord boxes for cooking.

Very quiet month.
Cheers,
Kris
