Hi - a colleague and I are traveling to North Sydney (Macquarie Uni) for a conference later this month and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few venues around the traps (wine bar / eateries) we could check out that have a good selection of wine on pour?
Cheers,
Bart

Hi Bart,
not sure where you are from but Macquarie Uni is not exactly in North Syndey, strictly speaking. It is in north western Sydney - about a 20 minute drive from the CBD and / or North Sydney (which is a suburb just on the other side of the bridge fromt he CBD).
Macquarie Uni isn't particularly well served by public transport, especially out of business hours. Will you have a car and exactly where are you staying?
I can recommend places in both the city and Nth Sydney but if you are staying out Nth Ryde way, which is where Macquarie Uni is, and you don't have a car, it may not be worth the effort.

De Vine at 30 Market Street (http://www.yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/de_vine/map/) in the city is excellent - you can treat it as a wine bar, tapas bar, or have a full meal. Good selection of imported and Australian wines. The Glass wine bar at the Hilton has a decent range, though a bit exy.
