TN: 2004 Marius Simpatico Shiraz

Post by n4sir »

2004 Marius Simpatico Single Vineyard McLaren Vale Shiraz (screwcap): Dark to inky purple. Gorgeous fresh nose of black cherry/blackcurrant backed by malty oak with a little black pepper. Tart/slightly jammy entry followed by plummy fruit, earthy nuances and black olive mid-palate, finishing long & grainy with sweet cherry and a touch of nutty oak and liquorice. Great drinking and not a hair out of place - when's the 2005 out Roger? :)

Cheers,
Ian

;-) I might be old, but I ain't slow. 8)

Just filling in time until that annoying House starts - or I could just stick to Spicks and Specks then the Chaser's...
Cheers

Hi Ian,

The 04 Simpatico has come together really well, glad you enjoyed it.

The 05 Simpatico and Symphony will be out and about next month.

Cheers,

Roger

I noticed Marius Wines had a special deal going for its 2003 Single Vineyard Shiraz on the WineBoss website but it looks like I was too slow...

I don't suppose there's any chance they'll list another offer soon?

I had thought WineBoss was pretty well defunct, but they seem to have had a revamp. Quite a few people have tried that model (order via us, deliver from the winery) and none of them has lasted too long.

They do have a nice database of wineries though....

I've picked up a few of the various Marius wines around the traps and every bottle has been thoroughly enjoyable. Here's yet another small/tiny maker really doing great things.

If anyone hasn't tried Marius wines, do yourself a big favour and grab a bottle of two, they are a treat at very moderate prices.

Very much looking forward to the 2005 releases, the earlier release 2005 Shiraz Mataro is excellent by any standard.
I like them young, I like them old but most of all I like them bold
