Help with Illuminati

Post by silkwood »

Help, people. I've just opened a bottle of Illuminati "ZANNA" Montepulciano d"Abbruzo 1997. I've had the "Ripparosso" a few times and found it an enjoyable wine for the price. Here's my problem.. I'm getting an almost buttery nose with the ZANNA, but only initially, without really putting my nose into the glass (with my big nose this takes some preparation, allowing a little time to assess the initial bouquet!).

What am I detecting? It disappeares quickly , as I mentioned, but after a minute's rest I can detect it again. Any suggestions (or other comments on this wine) would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

Bah. For a second I thought this post was about an (excellent) Steve Jackson game.
