Decanting Q - 1999 Rockford BP & 95 Mitchellton Print La

Post by tully »

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question to the knowledgeble types regarding decanting a 1999 Rockford BP and 1995 Mitchellton Print Label.

Having slow roasted lamb for dinner and was wondering roughly the optimal times for decanting the above wines. Is an hour enough for both of the above wines before serving sufficient or will a few hours extra prior to serving do both of the wines a world good?

Thanks.

cheers

The 95 Mitchelton I had a few months back was drinking pretty well with minimal decanting, I doubt it would benefit from an hour, maybe just 10-20 minutes.

99 BP I had earlier in the year was still a babe & kept improving throughout the night from a decanter, so I'd be thinking at least an hour.
My two cents worth.

Cheers

Yeah, I'd agree with Nick on that.

Just decant the print label to remove the sediment. 10-15 minutes should be fine. The BP, I'd be inclined to give at least an hour prior, maybe an hour and a half with a view to be twoards the end of the bottle in about two hours.

Also, drink the Print Label first and then the BP.
Cheers,
Kris

I'd give the Rockford at least 2 hours. I had a half bottle early in the year, gave it 1.5 hours and it really strated to sing at the end of the bottle.
