This forum is run by a wine retailer so I don't really think it is fair to discuss the competition here.

I'm buying spirits and beer and maybe some cheap $24 per case cleanskin.

I think it would be between Hornsby, Strathfield, and Hurstville. Their "fine-wine" sections are pretty comprehensive.

Cheers for that Cuttlefish. I'll have to have a look at the Hornsby store one day; hope it's larger than Crows Nest.

Next thing is a wine fridge!

Crows Nest is actually the Willoughby store. Thats my local. Its about the smallest Dan's I've been to either here or in Vic, but it apparently sells more wine than all the rest put together !

Goodo. I've really been struggling to find some Kirschwasser to have with my fondue this week. Hopefully a large store will have some. even Vintage Cellars is out of stock, and even then it's only the cheap and nasty stuff.

Just think. What is just up the road. Channel 9. They probably buy out half the store.

Why would you expect the big chains to stock stuff like that? If VC didn't sell a couple of bottles per week in each store they would probably take it off range.

I'd be trying the independents - you might want to do some phoning round first - if for no other reason than Coles and Wollies have bought so many of the Sydney independents. On northside try Georges Liquor Nest or Jim's Cellar, the ones in Leichhardt might be a good bet too.

I guess so, but the chains all used to carry it under the Seagrams or Continental brand. I've tried a few independents with no luck.

For the record, I found the Kirschwasser at Brookvale Cellars. 500mL for $33.
