Adelaide Offline in July?

Post by Gavin Trott »

Hello all

The May offline that was being organised was cancelled and there was some talk about a June offline being as good idea for those here in Adelaide?

Are people still interested, if so I can probably do some organising of it?

Let me know if the interest is there and warrants a night out?

Hi Gavin

Definitely interested, but the only weekend we have free in June is the 2nd/3rd, which is probably a little short notice. If it ends up being put off until July then my wife & I will definitely be in.

Cheers
Nick

I'm interested. I don't have anything much planned for June - no exams, just work and maybe the long weekend away if any of my slack and/or studying friends can be bothered.

July would be good, particularly the 14th to 18th area.

Sound good.

I've been waiting to hear when Nayan's back and when Baby Chickpea (Danny's) back in town to get them there.

Cheers,
Ian

I would definitely be keen fo an offline in july. June would be dependent on the date.

If the date is July I might be able to swing a "business" trip to the city of churches and attend as well. No St Francis Cab Franc this time around ... I promise.

I fly back in on the Sunday, June 3rd accompanied by a few wines from my English cellar (and probably a hefty customs bill to boot). Seem to be pretty flexible in June at the moment, but will probably need a few days to get over the jet-lag.

I just got an email that Mysterious Traveller and Blacktongues President Steve Norman (aka 707) is back in town for the next three weeks as part of his (work) contract.

Any chance of (finally) having the offline in this time frame?

(are you in town too then Nayan & Danny?)

Cheers,
Ian

Time to bump this back up before it drops off the main page again.

OK Gavin you've got the job of organising it - now when, where and who wants to go?

I'm back and I'm in. Have an interesting Loire Red and a Drouhin Rully that I would like to bring along.

Anytime apart from the weekend of the 21st July is good for me.

I had a word with Steve last night and it looks like he's unable to make it - he's probably going to be posted up north for work sooner than originally thought.

As for me next month should be fine, except for the 5th, 7th, 13th-16th, and 19th.

I'd prefer a Friday or Saturday night, but I'm pretty flexible - mind you that could change in a big hurry due to work.

Cheers,
Ian

How does Friday 28th July sound with everyone? I am willing to take over organising responsiblity if need be (though a few suggestions as to venue would be appreciated)

Could be a little hard ... the Miss Indy Grand Final is on at the Highlander Hotel that night. Maybe we could have it there?

I'm a new member and an absolute wine pleb ( I can usually detect a shiraz from a cab-sav, they're both the red ones.. right?)

A) What does an Offline consist of?

B) Is it worth such an unworthy attending (if I promise to sit in the corner, shut up and not annoy anyone)?

I am presuming there is some drinking involved.

Cheers,

Crow

Silkwood -I've never been to one either - we can sit together and try not to look silly!! Have met a few of the 'online' crowd and although they know thier wine, they are very non judgemental and cool about us newcomers - give it a go...Adam.

Loud and clear big Mike. But that's all right with me. Just me and the wife for the best of the west from my cellar then.

28th is all good with me - had good food recently at the Sauce, and it's probably a pretty good venue for this sort of function.

Cheers

Alright, so let's go for the for the 28th.

So far we have:

Nick
Adam
Jordan
Ian
Myself
Silkwood
Gavin
Steve (maybe plus 1)

I was thinking Sosta on Rundle Street as a venue (great wine service, good glassware and decanters; the food is pretty fine as well). I will have a chat with them and see what kind of deal we can work out.

Post dinner cleansing ales at the Highlander to keep Ian happy.
